I struggled so much with this story, even though I love the series, and Daja, and the prompt a lot. I've written Emelan stories a few times, and each time, I struggle. I really need to stop offering Emelan for Yuletide, I think. In the end, though, I like how this turned out; it is a quieter, smaller story than I wanted to write, but I loved getting inside Daja's head for it.
No one guessed that I wrote this one, but that does not surprise me.
