I've had zero chance to read any fic since my last rec post, but work should slow down next week, finally, and even though I'll be traveling some after that, I hope to at least get through the rest of the Trick or Treat and Shipoween collections. Not to mention the backlog of fic I have saved that my favorite authors have posted. I need a vacation that is all reading fic all the time.

For Trick or Treat and Shipoween, I wrote six stories in four new fandoms and one old fandom. It was also a werewolf-heavy writing period, which you know I loved.

I wrote one assignment and five extra treats for Trick or Treat 2017. I loved the hell out of the stories I got, really enjoyed a bunch of stories and art from the collection, and had a blast writing. As usual, the Trick or Treat exchange was a great experience. A++ highly recommend.

Assignment and first treat: I was assigned to lionessvalenti, for whom I've written before, and whose prompts I often love. This year was no different. Kristy and the Haunted Camp Adventure actually started out as my assignment fill, and then I wrote four different 1000 word starts to it, and then it really took off. I got nervous I wouldn't finish it in time, and wrote Spicy (And Oh So Sweet) instead (after touring a Jelly Belly factory). (I came to Roswell after the fandom's heyday, and have been sad I missed out ever since, so I love getting the chance to write fic for it.)

I decided early on that I wanted to write about Dawn and Jeff on a road trip, because I love siblings on road trips, and as soon as I figured out that the tension would come from Dawn and Sunny having to deal with each other in that post-high school graduation tenuous space, everything came together very quickly, at least for the first draft. I loved writing about how Dawn and Sunny had changed, while still working in references and details and styles from the books.

Dawn is my favorite BSC character, and she gets a lot of hate in the fandom, so when I saw pie_is_good's prompt requesting anything about Dawn (including a crossover with BtVS, which was one of the specific suggestions), I knew I wanted to write at least a short treat. I've always wondered at Oz's Aunt Maureen's calm reaction when Oz calls to see if Jordy's a werewolf, and still want to know more about what else might have come from that.

catalinay is the only one who guessed this was mine, which surprised me; not only is the title very much like another I've used, but Dawn + werewolves just screams me, or at least I think so.
