Well, school starts tomorrow, so I may not be around much. It's hit or miss; I wasn't around at all last fall, but winter semester was slightly better. We'll see how it goes this time.

However, I leave you with a ton of fic. I volunteered to be a pinch hitter for the 2008 [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon and had a blast writing a variety of fandoms and ends of the worlds. I do enjoy such things. (And I got to add a new fandom to my list. I'd never written Pirates fic before.)

I feel like shit, I can't find my mobile phone, I'm super dizzy, I missed going shopping with [livejournal.com profile] raz0rgirl, I'm not at the football game because I feel like such crap, someone is smoking outside my living room window (and not just cigarettes, I don't think), and the lock is broken on the main door to the building. It's been a great day so far.

So have first and last lines of the stories I posted so far this year.

The alpha and the omega. )

Trends? Well, I like to reference the beginning at the end. I also like to do last lines as short lines in a paragraph all their own for most dramatic impact.

Now back to searching for my phone and trying not to throw up.

[livejournal.com profile] azephirin recced a story of mine, which I always love, especially when it is one of my personal favorite stories. Even better, though, was the description of the story.

"We Live It, We Breathe It [...] As soon as I saw The Fast and the Furious, I wanted to write/read a Letty/Mia fic, and the crossover and Faith/Letty elements here are extra-awesome icing on the cake. The voices are all perfect, and the crossover completely believable. Unlike in Joss Whedon's various 'verses, women in TFatF exist almost entirely as sisters/lovers, and not as active characters in their own right; this fic takes that and turns it on its head."

I bet you can guess what made me so happy.

Now I need to figure out what I want for dinner. This may involve grocery shopping, but I don't want to go. I also brought work home, because I'm heading toward the end of my time here.

It's always a good day when you can write about women protragonists in a mostly male character oriented fandom and include this line:

They have whispered a spell for each meteor in the sky.

I like meteors and comets and stars.

I also like this Supernatural story I'm writing.

Edited to Add, 2:04 a.m.: I've finished my spn_xx story! Woo!

You would think, after writing [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel's birthday story, I would swear off new fandoms for awhile. You would think I would learn. You would be wrong, but, you know, that would be logical.

I really want to write The Breed girl slash.

I'm going to have to price it locally tomorrow and see if anyone can beat Amazon. Not likely, considering there's only about one option in town, but I would really like to get started on this story (it's for the Twice Told Fandom challenge), instead of the one I already started for it.

I just have the perfect scenario. Damn it. Another new fandom in less than a month? I used to be a one fandom woman, you know. I swear. About ten years ago, but still.

Edited to Add: Okay, it is going to be very hard to write this, because the character's name is spelled Sara and it needs an h, people. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop. I've typed Sarah so many billions of times I don't know if I'll be able to make the switch.

I've been trying to write for the past hour, since I got home from work. So far I have four different beginnings to a ficlet about Eden (from Blue Crush) in the morning, and not one word out of any of the beginnings is any good.

On the other hand, I quite like Gridiron Gang, which I'm watching while I write.

On the third hand (I'm like Stitch!), I will leave for a motorcycle ride shortly.

I wish the writing was working. I just can't seem to get her voice down. Or to get into her head at all. I know exactly one thing I want to happen, and I can't seem to write it so it sounds right.

Damn.

A little over six hundred words on the The Fast and the Furious/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover. I really like it, even though the pairings are getting complicated. (Plus the timeline.)

Things I am writing:

+ FatF/BtVS - Letty and Faith mostly ("We Live It, We Breathe It")
+ No School Like the Old School ficathon - main assignment ("Walk Away (To Be the One)")
+ No School Like the Old School ficathon - pinch-hit ("Nearest, Dearest Enemy (Calm Before the Storm)")
+ [livejournal.com profile] spn_50states - Hawaii ("Don't All Little Girls Grow Up Wanting To Save The World?")
+ BtVS/Lilo & Stitch - Buffy/Nani ("The Moon is on the Sea")
+ pre-Hook story about Rufio (Blame [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel)

I'm off to watch Secretary now.

After writing the Letty the Vampire Slayer section from "Ten Slayers Who Never Were (The Of All The Women In All The World Mix)", [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel and I were talking about Letty as a Slayer and how she relates to Faith and how she would relate to her old life. This led to some ideas for a possible story, not just a little scene.

Tonight I went to bed, was struck with an image from it, and have now written over 1000 words, with no sign of an end. They aren't even in California, yet. Good grief. I'm going to have to stop soon, I was exhausted at 8 p.m. and now am absolutely shattered, but I love the story so far.

Favorite bit:

"Stay put," she hissed. "I'm coming."

"Thank you." Mia's voice dropped into a whisper. "Thank you. I need help, Letty, I don't know what to do."

"I'll take care of you, girl."

Letty waited for Mia's goodbye, waited for the click as she ended the call, and then, with the memory of the sound of home lingering in her ear, she ground the phone into little pieces of broken plastic and bits of metal, electronic skin and bones.

Then she went out slaying.

I love destroying the phone as the physical manifestation of her feelings. She's breaking down, her family is breaking down, of course she wants to destroy something.

Just in case anyone didn't already know this, writing in a new fandom is hard. Multiply that by six new fandoms at once and, well, I kind of feel like drinking a lot, which won't actually help make these stories any good.

I will finish on time and, despite the woe, I am very pleased with the cleverness of me -- I mean, the overall frame.

---

The other night I had a dream that Dawn Schafer and Stacey McGill, from The Baby-Sitters Club, were helping me hunt zombies. It was one of the best dreams I've ever had, and I hope it becomes one of my (many) repeating dreams.

That Stacey is a killer with a shotgun, let me tell you.

(Captain Tightpants is on my tv right now -- oh! Drive! I will probably give that a try.)

(TMNT trailer! I haven't seen this one. I can't wait! NINJA TURTLES!)

Instead of actually writing, I'm going to post some excerpts from my works in progress files.

+ "Untitled", Lilo & Stitch/Buffy, Buffy/Nani

Vampires and Aliens, Oh My )

+ "The Girl, The Wolf, and The Badass Woodcutter" (working title), Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Dawn/Faith/Nina

Once there was a little girl. )

+ "Love (Five Times The Fun)" (working title), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Willow/Oz (Willow/Tara, Willow/Kennedy)

Willow has loved before. )

+ "Untitled", Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Harry Potter/X-Men Movieverse, Oz/Bill/Gambit

Oz knows weird. )

+ "ice, invisible on the skin", X-Men Movieverse, Kitty/Rogue, Bobby

It's a frost. )

+ "murder most sleek" (working title), X-Men Movieverse, Rogue/Gambit

Rogue can't touch. )

That's not as many as I thought I'd find. I know I have more elsewhere, but those are the ones I've worked on recently. Rereading them, I find them fun, and need to get back to work.

First, femslash 07 and Remix/Redux, though. Of course, neither are excerpted here.

I started a story tonight, and so far I have part of the title and 200 words of porn. This isn't actually what I intended to do with it (well, not so soon, I knew there would be porn eventually).

I don't actually know when I fell in love with this character, but I did. Damn it. I want to write about girls kissing and falling in love and breaking each other's hearts, but oh, no, I'm writing this instead.

At least I have to go to bed soon (tomorrow is one of my Saturdays). That will stop me from writing more of this. (Maybe.)

(Who am I kidding? I'll finish it, and even post it eventually.)

(Whenever I hear this song, I think of Eurotrip, obviously, and the one time I found Matt Damon hot.)

Remember that whole Multifandom Ficlet Tag I mentioned that [livejournal.com profile] juleskicks is running? And remember how I was so happy with the Buffy/Lilo & Stitch crossover prompt?

Yeah, well, over six hundred words later it just won't end. I keep getting more scenes in my head, scenes between Buffy and Nani which make me giddy because they're just adorable together. (I really wanted to set it in early season two, but I also wanted to have Buffy and Nani commiserate about weird little sisters -- you can guess which won.)

I've been working on it tonight due to insomnia keeping me awake all freaking night (I've been doing other things, too, like laundry and updating my address list and putting away new books and DVDs), but probably won't finish it today. I'm off to have breakfast with a bunch of people as soon as J. gets off work in twenty minutes (this is me, thrilled. My social activity over the last two days hasn't ended well, with most of these same people, and now I'm really leery about going), and eventually I will likely nap.

[livejournal.com profile] juleskicks is running a Multifandom Ficlet Tag. There are some fun ficlets so far, and some great prompts.

The prompt which made me verbally express my glee despite the fact I'm at work:

Buffy/Lilo and Stitch, Buffy/Nani

LILO & STITCH! Oh, yay!

I already have a ficlet started. Woo. Maybe I won't go watch season two with A. tonight, maybe instead I'll stay home and fic. Because that also sounds like fun, after a trip to the gym.

I think I may have done my [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon more harm than good by trying to do one final edit this evening. It's also possible editing on medication wasn't the smartest idea in the first place, but that medicine can be so tricky.

"Yes, Carla, go ahead. It's a perfect time to cut five hundred words (almost an entire scene). Of course you wanted to get rid of all that dialogue. Yes, yes, and while you're at it, do try to swallow some crackers, I'm sure your throat will be fine."

So I'm going to have to go back over it in the morning. So it is late for the first deadline. I feel bad. I would feel worse, except I am still a little loopy on the medicine. Plus I'm so stuffed up right now I can't smell Vicks VapoRub. I didn't think it was possible to not smell it.

I am going to bed.

Okay, my flist has eaten my brain, or at least my Netflix queue. I'm finishing up BSG season two, and what's coming for Monday? D.E.B.S. I blame you all for this.

I will probably be spamming tonight, as I try to finish this late-even-for-a-backup fic. It started so well and then just became big and overwhelming, but I want to get it in control and finished tonight.

Languages (further) created: 1 of 2
Languages failed to create: 1 of 2
Episodes of my favorite shows watched: 1 Supernatural and 1 Roseanne (currently watching)
New people added to the flist: 3 or 4 or maybe 5, I didn't really keep track, all from missambs kink friending meme
Comments to said meme: 0 because I can't make my brain work, the headache is too painful

Time for bed. Gym in the a.m., work, and then home to be very quiet and enjoy alone time.

Edited to add: I really should learn to double check the coding on each and every post, especially when I post and then don't come back for a day or two. *sigh*

I'm looking for an information source, preferably a someone (as opposed to a site or book, but that would work too) I can ask all sorts of questions about guns. Questions like, "I need [gun a] to do [this], [this], and [this], which gun would work best?" This is for original writing, not fanfic, but I would be so appreciative and willing to work an exchange for the information (writing, editing, something else).

One of my brothers is good with guns, but kind of hard to get ahold of sometimes.

I love Bones, by the way. Each episode makes me happier and I realize I love it.

I did not post any fic in March. This is unbelievable to me. Not one single story, not even a drabble. What have I been doing? I mean, sure, the remix was due in March, but was a secret, but still. That's just one story. Where are the others?

Well, all right, it's possible I spent too much time writing out the stories I haven't written in that title meme thing which I love and still need to finish, and I've been out being social every weekend, and I have been editing the novel, but still. I need to write more fic.

It's not been such a hot day at work. I'm ready to go home. Ready right now.

Have you seen the Where the Bloody Hell Are You ad for Australia? It totally looks like an advertisement for an Australian horror story. I really want to write it, too.

(Oh, wait, been there, done that. There's a short story in the collection about an Australian monster. Fun.)

I've been at my current job way too long. One of my gifts this past winter holiday season was a measuring tape, because I complained that I didn't have one at work which was long enough to measure all the doors. (Yeah, okay, the one at the front counter is tiny.) Because I'm a bit slacker, I've only just now taken it out of the package and IT'S SELF LOCKING! SELF LOCKING!

It is also neon green and black. I love it so much.
escritoireazul: (vin running out of time)
I am up to page 105 on the current edit of the novel, out of approximate 360 some pages. That's not very good progress, but it could be worse. It could be like my fanfic, which has completely stalled after the Remix. There's not another deadline coming up any time in the next few days, which is probably good. I think I'm going off to bed now, because I keep glancing over at my beautiful king-size bed, and it's tempting in ways it often isn't. It's so big I could put my loveseat on it and still have more than enough room to sleep, and the loveseat is gigantic and heavy, beautiful black leather. I could probably fit the couch of the set on it, too, except I think it is a little too long.

I have the best furniture, black leather set of couch, loveseat, and huge chair, plus black iron and glass coffee and end tables, which my computer desk also matches. My desk chair is black leather as well. My entertainment center is black metal. The bookcases don't match any of it, but they do match each other (mostly, I have two short onces which don't match the majority) and my dresser.

No idea how this moved from writing to my gorgeous furniture. No idea.

I also have a killer Stitch collection, and fabulous books, and complicated picture frames, and great dvds, and a lot of music, and a beautiful bass guitar, and a nice electronic keyboard, and why am I still talking about this? I must be tired, I'm rambling.

I both love and hate the novel right now. *sigh*
