Remember that whole Multifandom Ficlet Tag I mentioned that [livejournal.com profile] juleskicks is running? And remember how I was so happy with the Buffy/Lilo & Stitch crossover prompt?

Yeah, well, over six hundred words later it just won't end. I keep getting more scenes in my head, scenes between Buffy and Nani which make me giddy because they're just adorable together. (I really wanted to set it in early season two, but I also wanted to have Buffy and Nani commiserate about weird little sisters -- you can guess which won.)

I've been working on it tonight due to insomnia keeping me awake all freaking night (I've been doing other things, too, like laundry and updating my address list and putting away new books and DVDs), but probably won't finish it today. I'm off to have breakfast with a bunch of people as soon as J. gets off work in twenty minutes (this is me, thrilled. My social activity over the last two days hasn't ended well, with most of these same people, and now I'm really leery about going), and eventually I will likely nap.

And here I was just thinking that my holiday fic list was very small this year, now I know why - all the ficathons I love (except for Yuletdie) occur after the new year.

Anyway, Remix Redux is starting up again, and it is always a lot of fun. Some of the rules have changed this year, and [livejournal.com profile] musesfool explains them all in a post here.

Come, join the fun. It's a great time, and I've always received excellent stories and really enjoyed the authors I've remixed.

[livejournal.com profile] juleskicks is running a Multifandom Ficlet Tag. There are some fun ficlets so far, and some great prompts.

The prompt which made me verbally express my glee despite the fact I'm at work:

Buffy/Lilo and Stitch, Buffy/Nani

LILO & STITCH! Oh, yay!

I already have a ficlet started. Woo. Maybe I won't go watch season two with A. tonight, maybe instead I'll stay home and fic. Because that also sounds like fun, after a trip to the gym.

[livejournal.com profile] femslash07 has a poll about the possible fandoms to include this year. (I love this ficathon, and can't wait.)

[livejournal.com profile] tenyearsofbuffy has a post about the rules and process for the Ten Years of Buffy ficathon (not fic exchange). (I am also looking forward to this one, especially since I've been watching it so often with A. lately. We're about halfway through season two, and I think I'm going to see if she wants to watch more tonight.)

So I just stocked someone's stuffing--no, wait, that's not right, stuffed someone's stocking--for Yuletide, a short little story I both love and loathe at the same time, in a new to me fandom (that makes two for Yuletide this year).

Then I realized I had failed to buy my godson an ornament this year. Which would be fine, except I bought his sister one. So now I have to go to the shops on Christmas Eve. I am so filled with woe on this it is not even funny. I have never had to go shopping this late for a gift from me. (I've gone with J. before on his last minute shopping. I've often spent Christmas Even frantically wrapping gifts for my parents, J., or J.'s mom. I've never had to shop for a gift I had forgotten.)

Now I am waiting for my hair to dry enough to go out in the (comparative) cold, and for the dryer to finish so I have jeans to wear. Sarah told me to go sans-jeans and be a rebel, but like I said, cold, so no.

However, I am still very pleased I was able to write a Yuletide stocking stuffer.

Happy holidays, you guys. I hope everything goes better than you hope.

Story posted, yeah! There are even sections of it I love. (There are also sections I hate, but, you know, completely normal for me.) I love seeing my name on the front of Yuletide, and seeing the nice, round 130 stories uploaded. Woo.

Awww, I just refreshed and my name is already gone. At least I was a nice number!

Now I have the whole night free--to do nothing, apparently. J., who promised to meet me after work, was a no show, so I have no idea what to do. The way I've been feeling, I should probably sleep.

Edited to Add: Okay, or really I was 561 because of the counter reset, but 130 is a much better looking number.

Edited to Add Again: Instead of sleeping, I updated my new automated fic archive, Escritoire Azul. Not everything is up there, still, but I do have 45 stories loaded. Woo.

I'm not really here, I just wanted to link this.

[livejournal.com profile] kindkit has a poll to see if there is any interest in a ten years of BtVS ficathon for next year when the tenth anniversary of season one rolls around. I think it's a great idea. Also, it's been almost ten years? I cannot believe it. Pretty soon my ten year high school reunion is going to come around, too. (At the same time as theirs, actually, if, you know, they were real and their high school wasn't gone.)

I'm so behind on everything and I owe lots of people lots of things and I'm sorry.
escritoireazul: (blue crush giddy)
First, just a quick note to say thank you for all your comments. My mother is doing better, and though she'll continue to be ill the rest of her life, at least they're learning how to treat it so she's not in as much pain.

Yuletide letter )

---

In the same vein as Yuletide, I'm just waiting for you all to post your [livejournal.com profile] holiday_wishes. This is another of my favorite activities this time of year, finding wishes I can fill. Make my life easy and post your lists soon.

On that note, I should probably think about starting my holiday shopping one of these days. This is the latest I've ever let it slide without knowing at least one gift for each person on my list. I've only bought one thing so far. I used to be done shopping in July.

I have become a holiday slacker. Woo.
escritoireazul: (sisterhood in bed)
Sign-ups for Yuletide are open until November 2. This was so much fun last year, and I think many of you would enjoy it. Lots of room for girl slash (including Fast and the Furious this year, I added Letty and Mia to the character options). It's a good time, you should sign up now.

---

I continue to enjoy Ugly Betty despite my reservations.

---

Supernatural makes Thursday nights enjoyable, and it's not even half over yet.

[livejournal.com profile] femslash_today is hosting its third ficathon. The theme this time is Sadie Hawkins Dance: The High School Ficathon, and fandoms include Mean Girls, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and The Princess Diaries, among others, so you know it's going to be a good time.

Come sign up and join the girl slash fun.
escritoireazul: (michelle rodriguez troublemaker)
[livejournal.com profile] marenfic is hosting the Battlestar Galactica Frakkin' Ficlet Battle over in her journal. As I received my season two point five DVDs yesterday, I plan to watch them (at some point...I don't know when) and participate in this challenge. Yes, I know I swore I wouldn't write BSG fic, but the girl slash! Starbuck! Starbuck having the girl slash! The president! Older Adama! Cylons!

Okay, obviously I have been sucked deep into another fandom.

Tornado warning. Tornadoes touching down. Equinox. Mom's birthday. Working all weekend (main job today 8-5, CogCon 5-11, main job 8-12 tomorrow, CogCon 12-11, CogCon 8-6 on Sunday). Want to watch my new DVDs. (BSG and Supernatural!)
escritoireazul: (hurley bruised and broken)
I think I may have done my [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon more harm than good by trying to do one final edit this evening. It's also possible editing on medication wasn't the smartest idea in the first place, but that medicine can be so tricky.

"Yes, Carla, go ahead. It's a perfect time to cut five hundred words (almost an entire scene). Of course you wanted to get rid of all that dialogue. Yes, yes, and while you're at it, do try to swallow some crackers, I'm sure your throat will be fine."

So I'm going to have to go back over it in the morning. So it is late for the first deadline. I feel bad. I would feel worse, except I am still a little loopy on the medicine. Plus I'm so stuffed up right now I can't smell Vicks VapoRub. I didn't think it was possible to not smell it.

I am going to bed.

X-Men

I think I'm writing two separate stories for the [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon. I didn't intend to do this, of course, but I like both stories a lot. One is more developed than the other (and closer to my original idea on seeing the prompt), so I think I'll have to stick with it and maybe finish the other one later.

Of course, there's still a little while before they're due, so maybe I'll just write both of them. Who knows. I'm still really pleased with my assignment, and I enjoy writing it.

The Mighty Ducks

I feel kind of sick today, and even though I slept close to twelve hours last night, I'm already tired again. I'm glad I have the day off tomorrow, I didn't get anything done today except for a little writing.

So instead of being out with my friends, I'm at home watching D3, where the Mighty Ducks go to prep school. I've been thinking a lot about Queertet Revisited while watching it, of course, and I know more where Goldberg's plot thread is going, now. I always had a vague idea, but now I know more about his motivation. This is pleasing.

I also kind of want to write Julie/Connie after watching this movie again. Not in Queertet, of course, but maybe in a little one shot (which I hope won't turn into a mini-series like the Goldberg/Russ one shot did).

---

Horror Movies

I watch two complete crap horror movies today, though one was at least better than the other. [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop recommended Black Christmas and for the first time with one of her movies, I have no idea why. Then I watched Woods of Evil, which had a good, if cheesy premise, but turned out to be way amateur. It was so bad moments were hilarious just because it was such crap--and I don't mean bad in that good way cheesy horror movies are bad.

---

I really should go ahead and go to bed, because I want to see how much I can write tomorrow, if I take regular breaks but don't have anything planned. I meant to do that today, but not feeling well didn't really help.

Again I'm talking about [livejournal.com profile] a_kindara's Massive Flist Fic Exchange o' Doom. You should go write up your requests and then see if there are any you'd like to write.

Below the cut, the ones I'd love to read (and may end up having to write for myself).

Stories I'd Like To See )
escritoireazul: (lost boys troublemakers)
From [livejournal.com profile] swmbo, [livejournal.com profile] a_indara's Massive Flist Fic Exchange O'Doom, in which you go put up requests for stories you'd like to have written, and then see if anyone else's requests spark anything for you. Heavy on the Harry Potter and Supernatural right now, of course, but there are some other options AND you can put up anything. I'm thinking about mine, which I will also post here.

---

Back when I was tabletop roleplaying V:tM, my character had a bag o'doom with which she killed a number of things. She had special ammo and lots of guns. I really liked her.
escritoireazul: (vin running out of time)
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to sign up for this year's [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon. It's always a lot of fun. ([livejournal.com profile] kphoebe, I'm looking at you, but I know you're busy.)

I have so many things about which I need to write, but there is never enough time, and now I'm working again tomorrow. Last Saturday was the first Saturday I had off in awhile, and I was out of town for it. Good grief, this summer needs to end sometime in the near future. It won't, but it needs to do so.
escritoireazul: (willow and oz this love has its toll)
Not dead. Unbelievably busy, even on my supposed day off for the Fourth of July. Exhausted. Missing you guys like mad. But still alive and still struggling to find time to do everything I need and want to do.

Have fic.

Well.

Ficathon assignment emailed at the last second possible (well, that's not true, I had a whole thirty minutes left) late because I forgot about the eastern timezone part of the deadline. Foiled! I started and restarted this assignment so many times because each option was wonderful and I wish I could have written more stories (and I may still, unofficially, later). I like the one I completed, but I like the partial stories, too.

This after K. and I spent a couple of hours buying material for my Wiscon fancy-dress outfit (and a few groceries to tide me over until I leave next week). Plus I had a long phone call from J., which is unusual and is not. I hate the phone, but I've learned to talk to J. pretty well over it--not all that often, but I can do it.

I'm getting through my Do Before Wiscon list at a slow pace, but I'm getting there.
