It's my favorite time of year: horror and Halloween and fall weather and Trick or Treat.

Below, I've provided some general likes and Do Not Wants, as well as a few notes about why I like specific fandoms and characters and potential prompts. If there is a discrepancy between the general likes and DNWS and the fandom-specific information, go with the fandom-specific information.

I'm requesting fic and tricks and treats. Feel free to mix and match prompts as tricks and treats or across fandoms.

I wrote one assignment and five extra treats for Trick or Treat 2017. I loved the hell out of the stories I got, really enjoyed a bunch of stories and art from the collection, and had a blast writing. As usual, the Trick or Treat exchange was a great experience. A++ highly recommend.

Assignment and first treat: I was assigned to lionessvalenti, for whom I've written before, and whose prompts I often love. This year was no different. Kristy and the Haunted Camp Adventure actually started out as my assignment fill, and then I wrote four different 1000 word starts to it, and then it really took off. I got nervous I wouldn't finish it in time, and wrote Spicy (And Oh So Sweet) instead (after touring a Jelly Belly factory). (I came to Roswell after the fandom's heyday, and have been sad I missed out ever since, so I love getting the chance to write fic for it.)

Treat two: I wrote a gender-swapped Lost Boys treat for skazka for Yuletide last year, too, and had so much fun with it that when I saw their prompts this year, I wanted to do it again. I did have some concerns that I wouldn't have a different story to tell, but this turned out to have a much different feel than the one I wrote last year.

The Trick or Treat collection opens Oct 31 at 11:59 a.m. UTC (which is 6:59 a.m. my time), so I am well and truly done with my Trick or Treat writing. (The collection is open for treats at least through author reveals on Nov 7, so I could write more, but I am drawing a line and turning my attention to Yuletide.)

More than 15k words across six stories with one new fandom. My goal is always at least one assignment and one treat with one new fandom involved. This year is one more story than last year, and I really love everything I've written. I can't wait for the recipients to see them! (Less than 12 hours now.)

I have two stories waiting for me, and I am giddy. I don't shake my presents (in fic exchanges or actual, physical presents, either), but there are a number of fandoms I requested which have stories according to the fandom list, and I am excited to read them whether they are for me or not.

Had my Trick or Treat story almost done -- and then last night realized how much better it would work in a completely different setting that would require research and canon review, but would be a stronger story. I've hit the minimum word count already, but probably need a few thousand more words to make it work. Possibly more than that. I may not have time to treat the way I wanted, but we'll see.

Yuletide assignment received, and while I'm waiting on a letter promised in the sign-up, the request in the sign-up itself is so 100% something I love that I'm already delighted. I think this will be a long one, too.

May not be a treat-writing-filled year for me this year, if my assignments keep running long.

Overall, though, it's a good fic exchange season for me so far.

It is a low commitment (only 300 word minimum) exchange with a wide variety of fandoms (no small fandom requirement) and some excellent stories. (I've loved everything I've received, and last year I got the Emelan werewolf story of my heart.) I've also been inspired to write some stories I love, because the prompts have been wonderful.

It is my favorite time of the year, and the Trick or Treat Exchange is one of the reasons why.
