Dear Trick or Treat Creator,

Halloween is my favorite holiday and fall my favorite season, so Trick or Treat is an awesome mix of things I love combined with fandoms I adore. I had a blast the past couple years, and I can’t wait to see your creation.

Below, I’ve provided some general likes and Do Not Wants, as well as a few thoughts about why I like specific fandoms and characters. If there is a discrepancy between the general likes and DNWs and the fandom-specific information, go with the fandom-specific information.

I’m requesting both fic and art and tricks and treats. Feel free to mix and match prompts as tricks and treats or across fandoms.

My absolutely favorite things: werewolves, crossovers, and monsters and magic.

You can find me on DW, LJ, and AO3 as escritoireazul.

Likes:
+ f/f, gen, and het more than m/m, because I really love stories about women
+ werewolves and werewolf packs as families and werewolf alternate universes in any canon and full moons over the ocean
+ Halloween and horror movies (characters watching them, mocking them, living them, whatever)
+ chosen families being loving and protective and a little snarly with each other because they trust each other to always be there and adoption stories where adoption is treated as totally normal and not a BIG DRAMATIC SECRET to up the tension and siblings as friends and friends as family
+ poly families, threesomes, foursomes, and moresomes, in all sorts of configurations (Vs, triangles, dodecahedrons)
+ monsters of the week, casefic, adventure stories, mysteries
+ friends and family teaming up to save the world, road trip stories, motorcycles and highways and the open road spooling out before them
+ crossovers and fusions
+ kink: biting, light bondage, impact play, rough body play, bloodplay particularly for supernatural characters, fireplay, marking, sensory overload, orgasm denial/control, pegging -- female top or dom only except for the biting
+ ghost hunting AUs of all types, including this state-mandated idea

Do Not Want:
+ characters dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, fat hate, or ableism within the story
+ character bashing
+ rape, non-con, and dub-con
+ embarrassment/humiliation
+ animal cruelty or death
+ character death (unless it is, for example, a character dying to become a vampire, and therefore still being a part of the story)
+ incest
+ big age difference in romantic relationships (except for supernatural creatures), particularly an older man/younger woman
+ a/b/o or werewolf stories with Big Tough Alpha Male tropes
+ pregnancy, including mpreg
+ spiders. Especially in art, but sometimes even the word is enough to get to me. (There is a sort of exception in my Down in the Library Basement request.)

Requests

There are spoilers in my prompts.

16 Ways to Kill a Vampire in McDonalds: Lucy, Claire, Maggie

Source material: An adorable online game about what it says on the tin. It is fun and delightful, makes excellent use of vampire lore, and has some fantastic queer subtext (or text, depending on how you play). I would enjoy both light-hearted fun takes on vampire hunting or something dark and frightening and terrible.

I came out of this game wanting a billion stories about queer vampire hunting girls, and ship Lucy, Maggie, and Claire in any combination.

Prompts:

Lucy and Maggie are already vampire hunters. (Lucy is the bait, Maggie loves her machete. I love this description of Maggie: Maggie looks like Tinkerbell. Five feet tall with short blonde hair and a wide smile. The effect is only slightly ruined by the machete and the spray of blood decorating her face and tank top. It also sets a nice tone for the game itself.) Even so, finding a vampire in McDonalds is weird for them. What other strange places have they found vampires?

Once you find all the endings, you can briefly play as Claire, the adorable cashier, and in some of those endings, she goes off with Lucy to become a vampire hunter. What does her first hunt look like? What weapons does she prefer? What weirdness does she get to see?

Sometimes, in the game, the hunt goes badly, and Lucy or Claire die. Lucy is also very straightforward about the fact that even as bait, she won’t get to live a long life doing what she does. In the storylines where later hunts happen for any of the girls, what goes wrong in their last hunt?

The ghosts of the people the vampire kills lingers around him, calling out for help, which is handled in a pretty damn creepy way for a lighthearted quick game. I love this bit of worldbuilding, and want to see more of it as any of the girls deal with that, for the first time, for a particularly heartbreaking time, whatever.

Down in the Library Basement: Cassie (Down in the Library Basement)

Source material: A story posted to NoSleep in three parts (one, two, three) and then adapted to a podcast story (and it is GREAT), it’s about a young woman, Cassie, who has to step in to run a small-town library for her mother when her mother breaks her leg. There’s something special about this library, something in the basement, and Cassie has quite an adventure with it, her mother, and eventually a cadre of confident, fierce, wonderful librarians.

I love Cassie and her story so much; she goes from reluctantly helping her mother to being terrified of the thing in the basement, to being protective and smart and loyal. Her mother is also great, and the rest of the librarians who show up in the last part absolutely delightful.

The thing in the basement is giant and spider-like, which means my DNW sort of doesn’t apply here (and also, I have no idea why I love this story so much, because normally I would have noped out of this the second I figured it out). It is also, somehow, a delight.

Prompts:

By the end, Cassie is pretty much signed up for life at the library and with the thing in the basement, and there are now things in the basements of many libraries thanks to Cassie and her mother. What does Cassie get up to with the other librarians at the other libraries?

Not all of the creatures are safe. There’s one particular one in the story that is a maneater, but there are likely more out there, too. I really want to see Cassie, her mother, and the other librarians forming a team to hunt them down and protect the world, using the safe creatures to help.

These are basically giant spiders and therefore terrifying and some of them are maneaters. Kids disappear. Kids are eaten. Tell me a horror story about one in another town, or one coming to this town now that the big male has been killed. (I still can’t believe how much I want a horror story about a giant spider.)

Cassie seems absolutely delighted by some of the women who come to hunt the big maneating male creature. Does she go on to hook up with them? If she gets serious about someone who isn’t already a librarian in the know, at what point does she tell them about the guardian of the library? Does she ever? If she doesn’t, do they accidentally find out?

In Other Lands - Sarah Rees Brennan: Louise Sunborn

Source material: Originally a novel published by Sarah Rees Brennan available online (Turn of the Story) it, and the sequel short story, have been reworked into a novel (In Other Lands). It took everything I loved about Turn of the Story and just made it even better. It is, in SRB’s words: the story of the grouchiest boy in fantasyland, all about Elliot Schafer, a boy from our world who is called upon to protect a world of magic and monsters.

The three main characters are Elliot, the elf warrior Serene-Heart-in-the-Chaos-of-Battle (the elves believe women are the best for fighting and the men, who are too delicate to fight, stay behind to take care of the children and mind the home), and Luke Sunborn, a human (...well, so he thinks) warrior from one of the more famous warrior families. They are wonderful together, sharp and smart and cold and caring and fierce, and I love their friendships and the different ways they love each other, and Elliot is an amazing narrator. The story tackles a lot of difficult topics and is wonderful and emotional and funny.

Yet what I really want are all the stories about Luke’s sister. In Other Lands is a fantastic story, but it feels complete. (While I’d like to see their adventures as adults, that seems like a lot to ask in a fic exchange.) So I’m focused on Louise, an amazing warrior who lives loud and laughs often and fucks a lot. Louise is described very early on as a golden lioness at the family picnic, and she’s just glorious.

I really do love Elliot, Serene, and Luke, too, and ship the three of them together hardcore. Having them be a part of Louise's adventures would be wonderful, too, if you want to write about them as well, as long as the focus stays on Louise.

Prompts:

Louise is often described as being like a lioness, and I think this is brilliant, the golden warrior. This is a land of magic and monsters. Of course I'd love to see Louise the lion shapeshifter, or fighting alongside great talking beasts. Where are the werewolves in this magical world?

Louise is 18 when the story starts. What sort of adventures did she get up to when she was younger and first training to be a warrior and defender of the realm? What about as she keeps having adventures as she grows older? Does she, too, end up fighting alongside the elves, with a swordsister of her own (and all the physical closeness that can imply)?

Louise's first command, as a lieutenant leading the 15th troop, takes place in the second year of the story, when she’s just 19, but where does she go from there? How far through the ranks does she rise? How does her warrior life change as Elliot works so hard throughout the book to bring peace to the realm?

The harpies are lion-sized eagles, and Louise's younger brother ends up being part harpy. Does she go off with Luke to have all sorts of adventures with the harpies as he learns to adjust?

Louise's friends are always over at the Sunborns' home, especially during the summer. I want to know more about her beautiful friends and the adventures they have, their fighting and swordplay, their laughter and fun.

Late in the book, the mundane world starts to encroach on their world, including weapons like guns. Modern guns don’t work so well, but what if older guns do? What if mundane world comes armed, led by the people who can cross the wall but chose not to stay and learn to fight to save the realm?

The Librarians (TV 2014): Cassandra Cillian

Source material: Adorable, cheesy story about three librarians (in training, sort of) and their guardian protecting the world from villains and magic abuse and building a family along the way. I love the delightful cheesiness of the world, and how much fun the characters have together, even when they’re bickering. I have only been able to watch season one so far, but am frantically trying to get ahold of the rest. I love the way their skills come together to save the day each time, and how they slowly learn to trust each other and manage to work together even when they don’t. I adore Cassandra and her math, but I love Jake and Ezekial and Eve a lot, too. (I like the actual Librarian okay, but mostly prefer stories without him.)

I ship Cassandra with her alternate universe self from "And the Loom of Fate," Cassandra/Ezekial/Jake, Cassandra/Eve, Cassandra/the majority of the women who have turned up in the show, Cassandra/crossover women.

Prompts:

Cassandra's world is overrun with monsters, and only she can save them. Sort of. With a lot of help from her friends.

Cassandra tries to use math to solve people. Sometimes it work. Sometimes it goes very, very wrong.

Cassandra goes megalomaniacal when she’s not tempered by the others.

Werewolves. Good werewolves, bad werewolves, Cassandra becomes a werewolf, anything.

"And the Fables of Doom" is one of my favorite episodes. I'd love to see more of Cassandra being Prince Charming and wooing all the women and saving the day, or other ways that fairy tales and fables and legends start to come to life and how Cassandra and the team deal with them.
