Fandom: Favorite Alternate Universes, Fusions, and Tropes

I'm not doing very well; September is a rough money in my family, and I've been struggling with the bipolar all year anyway. However, Trick or Treat sign-ups start soon, and I can't wait. I'm working out what I want to request and what prompts I want to leave for them, which made me think I'd love to hear from y'all about things you like in stories.

In particular, I'd love to know your favorite alternate universes, fusions, and tropes.

Some of mine, to start us off: werewolf AUs, monster hunting AUs, enemies to friends (to lovers), friends to lovers, IN SPACE AUs, Everyone is a Slayer Now BTVS fusions.

I like friends to lovers, yes! And if we can pair that with 'there was only one bed,' we get something verrrry lovely indeed.

I love IN SPACE AUs myself and don't see them anywhere near enough; the ways they can affect a canon are wide and varied and so, so full of potential. Not even written for them myself but I have to change that.

Werewolf and vampire AUs are both fun and a chance to explore the more primal, passionate parts of human nature (along with that dark edge both possess).

Andddd then there's the super indulgant things like huddling for warmth, snowed in and similar cosy settings for fluff. I do enjoy soulmate AUs as well but mostly where there's an element of choice in it.

I love enemies to friends (to lovers) :D Werewolf and space AUs are often fun too.
One of my favorite tropes is time travel fix-it. In general I like stories with secret identities, where people are secretly very competent/powerful. Also soulbonds, both the voluntary/accidental/unequal kinds.

Meta is my favorite - especially all those historical papers about Captain America, as if he was real.

I also love the whole phenomenon of Coffee Shop AUs.

AUs can be a bit fandom-specific for me, but in general you can't go wrong with interesting Divergents and Everybody Lives. Time travel fix-its are a favorite for me in Harry Potter and Star Wars, and Crossovers both traditional and fusions are love.

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, I'm also a kidfic person, and handcuffed together, or forced proximity due to just about anything it pretty great too.

Friends to lovers is also a favorite of mine. Amnesia, animal transformations, soul mates, epistolary and road trips are also great.

IDK if I have favourite AUs. At least,IDK if it can really be called fic because nothing ever gets written, but I do spend a lot of time thinking about my faves in Soulmate AUs (my top choices there are written words/timers/symbols on skin appearing at a certain time), and I have a giant Charlie/Mary Anne BSC amnesia AU which I daydream about a lot instead of doing productive things. I would also just love more AUs to be set in Australia because why not.

I list all my favourite tropes in my exchange letters but the classics are: huddling for warmth, trapped/handcuffed together, sharing a bed, UST... probably a bunch more.

Also IDK if you can call it an 'AU' but I like thinking about dropping James Norrington into different canons so I can ship him with random characters. My favourite Norrington suitors are currently Elizabeth Bennet and Captain Hook. (From Peter Pan, not from OUaT haha.)
