Aladdin

The Hunt for Man-Yu-El (3003 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Aladdin (1992)
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Aladdin/Jasmine
Characters: Rajah, Genie (Aladdin)
Summary:

At sunset on the third day since the second water purifier had stopped, the city of Agrabah limped along in a state of controlled chaos.

The royal fountains and pools were empty; the use of water for bathing and watering of plants was strictly limited, which put the nobles out of temper, greatly gratified the smallest children at bedtime, and added a whole new level of pungency to the bazaar. The bakers in the streets sold a drastically reduced selection at astronomical prices; at the back gates of the palace, a line of hungry beggars stretched and snaked out into the city, and the Queen's cooks fed them on baked vegetable balls and salads, anything but bread; and kebab stalls had sprung into being like goosebumps after a cold wind, hawking roasted lamb so fast that the shepherds were fast becoming the happiest demographic in the city, and the sheep the most worried.

The sheep, and the Queen.

People, I have the glee today. Which is good, because I also have the cramps and the headache and the general pain and frustration I feel the first day or so every time I have my period. Mostly, though, I have the glee.

Why do I glee?

Because [livejournal.com profile] pene wrote me the most amazing, fantastic, warm, sweet, and just all around perfect fic for the [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today Sadie Hawkins ficathon.

"Something That You're Missing" combines two of my requests, Carmen/Tibby and Carmen/Missy. (What can I say, I love Carmen. This should surprise absolutely no one. I also love Missy. I also love Tibby, but only because she reminds me of Sarah.)

It's a wonderful story with beautiful details, great characterization, believable (and sexy) teen girl experimentation, the warm friendship I so love in the books, a spot-on Missy, a hilarious Torrance mention, and just--I don't even have enough words to say how much I love this.

The fact that this story was written for me is just icing on the cake, where cake means I had the pleasure to read a story which makes me smile and laugh and be filled with glee every time I read it, and I've reread it often. Now you should go read it and tell [livejournal.com profile] pene how much you love it, because I know you will.

"Today's the Day We Have Everything" by [livejournal.com profile] pene is a lovely, hot, sweet Bend It Like Beckham/Bring It On crossover about Missy and Jess, who have become my new favorite pairing.
