chord progressions? Wow. Heavy stuff to start out with. Way to go you!
Unfortunately I can only read music at a rudimentary level but I do read tabs. I've got my eye on the Bass Tab White Pages (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0634033263/701-1243990-2857928) cuz I found downloading to be really hit-and-miss. Some of the tabs would be spot on and some would be just awful.
For learning I thought about buying the TASCAM CD Bass Trainer (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/General/Accessories/Practice/Tools?sku=241256&src=HC007) but I ended up jamming with friends instead. I've heard that the trainer is a good product but haven't tried it. Besides, jamming is WAY more fun.
