escritoireazulTrying out potential Yuletide fandoms. First up, Girl Meets World.
1x01
Ok, I already love Maya with all the burning love of a thousand suns. She's snarky and adorable and delightful. And Riley is such a cutie pie. I started shipping them before the credits even rolled.
Corey and Topanga! Still adorable dorks.
Farkle is creeeeeeeeeeeepy. And why in the world would Corey let him talk about the girls like that in front of the classroom? So weird, so not funny, so uncomfortable. Ugh.
Maya trying to take back their nights with no homework, more freedom is adorable. As is Riley trying to push back against the expectations of her parents (Corey in particular).
I'm also intrigued with the idea that it's possible that Corey and Topanga are parents that have forgotten what they were like as kids, or at least try to protect their kids from what they were like as kids. I'm running into this with my friends who have kids (and one of my sisters), as their kids get to be teenagers, and I remember what we were like as teenagers, and then have to deal with the hypocrisy of their parents trying to pretend they weren't like that as teenagers. It's a weird mix of loyalty vs truly believing that teens need freedom to make their own choices and mistakes.
... honestly kind of creeped out that Corey basically stalks his daughter in the cafeteria.
While I zero percent believe Farkle was able to sneak sparklers into that school, Maya's homework burning fire was both adorable and interesting storytelling. Though I'm still not sure why Farkle doesn't get punished for bringing and lighting the sparklers in the first place.

This show is cheesy as fuck, but adorable.
Aaaaaaah, the Mr Feeney cameo actually made me tear up a little. Nostalgia!
1x02 "Girl Meets Boy"
Oh, great, the "technology means you don't connect" episode. This grossed me out back in the 2000s, it grosses me out now. Technology can help us connect, help us be friends, help us stay in touch, help us create together. Thank you, Lucas, for bringing up that point.
A billion times more Miss Myzell, please.
... why did Maya and Riley switch seats?
Farkle continues to be terribly creepy. A billion times less Farkle, please.
Also pretty sure that a teacher can't actually collect cell phones for any real length of time.
Oh, man, that library is super creepy. I love it. I suddenly want a ghost story with them. Girl Meets World meets Scooby Doo.
Maya's surprise art skills are fabulous.

Oh dear god, Farkle is going to give flirting lessons. This is going to go so, so wrong. Though I do love that he says he wants them both to be happy. That's pretty sweet.
1x04 Girl Meets Father
Ahahahahaha, I love how Lucas and Maya interact. She tries so hard to get to him, and he's just so casual and chill and fun. I love it, I love it, I love it.
... I'm not sure I ever had a history class focus on Darwin. Huh.
Maya has a cotton candy machine in her locker? USEFUL.
Seriously love that Riley and Maya are the two most important girls in Corey's life. I love how he loves his daughters best friend. Chosen faaaaaaaaaaamily. Though it is a little weird that he's her teacher and not, you know, actually acting like a teacher, but ok, I will let it go.
And then he comes back and fixes it. THIS SHOW. Maya is a part of their family. I love them SO MUCH. SO MUCH.
Ahahahahaha, Lucas wore a cowboy hat just to keep the game with Maya going. I LOVE THEIR FRIENDSHIP SO MUCH.
1x05 Girl Meets the Truth
This ended up being adorable, even though I could still do without so much Farkle.
Verdict after five episodes: adorable, I'll definitely keep watching, and yeah, I'm thinking Yuletide.
