Fandom: Yuletide and Criminal Minds

You guys, Criminal Minds is now on Netflix. While I own a couple of the seasons on dvd, this is both the greatest thing and the worst thing. Greatest thing because OMG CRIMINAL MINDS YOU GUYS. Worst thing because I will never get anything else watched until I marathon my way through the series. I'm alread on season three.

Still ship Garcia and Morgan SO HARD. Also, poly!team.

Looks like it's time for Yuletide already. Amazing. There's a post for the eligibility rules. I haven't been paying attention to any of the lead up to this post, so I don't know what's been argued or said. First impression is that the rules are stricter than ever, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Then again, I was looking forward to Yuletide as the one fandom thing I still do every year (I even missed the last Remix Redux, unfortunately), but I don't know -- I guess I'm a little put off by what I'm reading around Yuletide already. We'll see how this feeling lasts. I'm going to participate, because it is my favorite fannish holiday event, and the fall holiday season is rough for my family due to all the deaths this time of year, so maybe that's what is going on with my brain.

Because I've been so disconnected fannishly (I was going to say lately, but really it's been over the past few years), I have no idea what I might want to nominate, request, or offer. I decided to read back through my old Yuletide posts, see if I was inspired, and I think I might be.

I was looking at the yuletide RULES POST O'DOOM, and think the rules creep is a response to ppl being pissed off about X fandom being ruled in or out in previous years? It just looks SO like someone tried to sit down and outline every possible contingency so the there'd be less yelling about unfairness and rule-bending nepotism.

That said, I totally agree about the RULES POST being massively off putting just because of the effort to read and digest that whole monstrous thing.

Both of those are good points. It really is a monstrous post that is difficult to parse. Good grief.
