Being Human (tv)

I love werewolves. I also love vampires, but I particularly love werewolves. The mix of them in Being Human made me happy, when I watched the pilot, and I have high hopes for the fandom. The stories in Yuletide contain that great mix.

+ "Hope" is a glorious mix of past and present, of the need for blood, and hope, and being needed, of the way even the monsters can try to cling to their humanity, or thrust it away in turn. It's amazing, the blood and the hunger and the way emotions build in the dangerous times, and the safe ones alike.

+ "the abyss gazes also into you" has a George who is trying so hard to convince himself he's not the monster, and Mitchell being deadpan and protective and secretive, and a delicious scene where Mitchell proves he's a monster, too. I love it.

+ "Birth of a Friendship" is a wonderful story about George and Mitchell meeting and the werewolf learning about vampires and how a friendship can begin from something so little.

Bend It Like Beckham

+ "lighting the fuse might result in a bang" is a sweet story where Jules comes out and Jess has to find some realizations of her own, including why she's not upset about Joe breaking it off with her and why she's not so pleased when Jules drags her to a gay club.

Futurama

+ "Five Deals the Robot Devil Almost Made" is absolutely spot on all the funny and sweet things I love about the show, especially Fry and Leela.

+ "Engineer, Not Shop Girl" has a great Amy getting ready to graduate and have to face her job assignment, even though it isn't the one she wants. The details are amazing, and the interactions with the other characters mostly hilarious.
