Things I received in the mail during the rush of holiday prep and then the no internet at home mess and oh yeah my car falling apart:

+ a beautiful, simple card from [livejournal.com profile] tinpanalley. It's lovely, all white with a gorgeous gold star on the front which says "a little wish" and then she wrote me a Faith ficlet inside. FAITH! My prompts were Faith, fairy lights, and tequila and oh, it's fantastic. Poor Faith in her hotel room, decorating and drinking all by herself, making her own party. And then she goes off to B's for the more traditional celebration and oh. It's lovely and it really made my day when it came in. I've hung it on the wall so I can open it and read it whenever I want. Thank you so much!

+ [livejournal.com profile] jaguar83 sent me a beautiful card of blues and silver, with a cute little snowman on the front. I am actually jealous of the snowman's striped scarf in shades of blue, it is so cute and adorable. Thank you, it's absolutely gorgeous!

+ [livejournal.com profile] twinkledru sent another simple card (which, where do you guys find these? All the ones I see in stores are always very complicated, and I hate them, I much prefer this delicate, beautiful, simple styles) which has a shiny, sparkly present on a sled. It's adorable. Thank you, it, and the note inside, made me smile when I was having a really hard time.

I think there is more, but I must have put it somewhere not the pile of mail on my main computer desk, because I can't find it. There's a lot of papers over on the secondary desk, so if you sent me something and I've not thanked you yet, I'm terribly sorry for being so far behind.

Also, I have friended some new people, mostly based on comments to this X-Men post by [livejournal.com profile] _elektra.

I really have the desire to write Rogue/Gwen now. And Bobby/Kitty. And Bobby/Angel.

Yeah, look! [livejournal.com profile] tara_essential which is an adorable name, from an adorable quote. And she is essential, so everyone should go join and post things. I have been inspired to try my hand at Tara icons, so if anything works out, I'll be posting here and there. (Note: My icons rarely work out well enough I post them for others, and not just me. Bad things are fine for me, but to share, I want pretty things.)

I haven't been very productive this weekend. Off and on, I guess. Nothing at all today. Bought groceries Friday after work, did laundry yesterday, cooked pasta today. I've watched a number of movies. A large number, most of which I've seen before. (So far, yesterday and today: The New Guy, Underworld, The Great Escape, X-Men, Stir of Echoes, Jaws 2, The Matrix, Salem's Lot, and now X2: X-Men United. The only one I hadn't seen before was The Great Escape.)

I thought about watching A Man Apart because it's one of the few Vin Diesel movies I don't yet own, but I'm writing an (incredibly late) back-up fic for the xmmficathon. I don't need to watch X2 (I do own it, after all) but. I like it so much. I know I could watch it later, especially because none of my Sunday shows are on tonight, but I'm already watching it--why am I having this discussion with myself?

(Also, how cute is John when he winks right before the cigarette flares up? I didn't used to think he was cute, what happened?)

I've also been reading through some of the journals of new people on the flist and trying to make Tara icons. I'm failing at the latter a lot. However, the writing is coming along, though slow and I don't know how much more I can do. I still need to put away laundry and maybe do one more load.

I really don't have to do anything. This makes me glad. I had no idea how wonderful having actual weekends would be. This may force me to never work another job where I don't have weekends, but I doubt it.

I noticed my account expired here. I hadn't actually purchased a paid account for this journal, but I bought a permanent account for my non-fandom one (which I've had for manymany years) and passed the rest of the paid account time here. I find myself missing having a paid account on this one, but the whole point of getting a permanent account for the other was to stop paying every year. I don't know.

(New people on the flist, if you are interested in the non-fandom journal as well [which is really quite personal and has almost no fandom at all to it, hence the non-fandom label] just drop me a comment and I'll add you from it, too.)
