escritoireazul: (vin what have I become)
What have I been doing? Working a lot, preparing for my holiday with [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop, and watching Victoria Pratt hit things. I purchased Cleopatra 2525 and have almost finished the series (Victoria Pratt and Gina Tores!) and keep catching Mutant X on television. Pratt's characters certainly do hit things a lot. A whole lot. She looks so good doing it I of course won't complain.

Cleopatra 2525 is cheesy, silly, at times poorly written, did not have a big enough special effects budget--but I adore it. The more I watch, the more I love, and I am both so sad I'm almost done and already looking forward to rewatching it. The dialogue is often poorly written, but the characters are amazing, and I think the overall plot had a lot of potential. I wish they could have taken it farther.

I must find fiction about this show. Cleo, Hal, and Sarge were certainly having threesomes, and I really think Hal was more than a little in love with Cleo (and Sarge with both of them). I've not seen much so far, but how can there not be slash about this show? Three powerful women spending all their time together, often comforting each other physically, and the main male characters are either bad guys or their robotic helper who has no sex drive.

Come on, where is the slash?!

I think I might have to write some, myself.

Mutant X is also cheesy, silly, often poorly written, and the poor man's X-Men, but unlike Cleopatra 2525, the overall plot isn't nearly as interesting, nor are the characters well developed. I'm rather fond of Shalimar, but much of the feeling is because she's Victoria Pratt's character, and I am a big fan of the energy she brings to her characters, the quirky smiles, the physical strength, and the sexuality.

Also, she is beautiful, which I enjoy.

What have I not been doing? Writing fanfiction. I should, I have so many story ideas and the Butterfly Effect ficathon is due next month, but I haven't been. I've been working on original writing, both fiction and non-fiction, but I miss fandom writing, too, especially the stories I'm writing with [livejournal.com profile] shisaiyan.

I did get part of the next chapter of "Queertet Revisited" written and sent to [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop. We have quite a bit of the next ten chapters or so written, we just need to add in specific scenes we skipped, but it's slow going these days, we're both so busy. However, two weeks from yesterday we'll be on holiday together for two weeks and will maybe do some work. I'm taking my laptop, anyway.

When I bought Cleopatra 2525, I also picked up Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (very cute, better than Stitch The Movie but not as good as Lilo & Stitch) and The Pacifier, which is still silly and Disney, but Vin Diesel remains the most sensual man on earth. Shower scene, shower scene, oooh la la.

I'm looking forward to some of the fall television line-up. For the first time since Buffy season four and Angel season one, I have more than one show in a season I am really, truly excited about watching the entire season. Of course, most of them will fall flat, I'm sure, but so far I have hope.

I am, of course, eager for Lost season two. I am also eager for my season one dvds to arrive, stupid Best Buy having a backorder, I want my dvds!

Then I watched Reunion last week, caught it mostly by accident, and I love it. Cheesy dialogue, some annoying characters, but an interesting premise (as I thought when just reading about it). I also adore Alexa Davalos and find her character a lot of fun. Small spoiler below. )

Also, I did not know Possible OC spoilers, though not really because I did not watch )

I was going to talk more about what I'm looking forward to watching (Supernatural is one of them, I think), but [livejournal.com profile] cadhla posted about comfort foods in this entry. After reading it, and the comments, I'm starving. I've only had some chicken this morning, and now I need more food. (More diet dr. pepper, too, and I'm all out in the house.) I also need to go try to find some things for the Florida holiday and finish reading this really horrid wizard book I'm reviewing.

It's early afternoon, though, so I have plenty of time.

My top ten comfort foods, plus honorable mentions.

Comfort foods are good. )

I have diet dr pepper, iced tea, miniature cookies and cream bars, but dinner will be chicken quesodillas, though I really want a big spinach leaf salad now. The Pacifier is on again in the background while I finish the book I'm reviewing for my next column.

I did go out to shop. I still need plain black pants, black strappy shoes without much of a heel, and new trainers for the Florida trip, along with purple nail polish, polish remover, and tweezers. Five plus stores later, I came home with a six pack of diet dr pepper, a cold bottle of diet dr pepper to drink right away, taco bell, hershey's cookies and cream miniatures, and the new Children of the Red King novel by Jenny Niimo (or something like that, I can't see the author's name from across the room). No pants, no shoes, no toiletries. I have less than two weeks. I've been looking for the pants for over a month. I believe the term "crap" is one to use. That or "absolutely out of luck" when it comes to clothes, at least.

I hate to shop. I hate to shop alone. I used to make J. do most of the grocery shopping and even a lot of my clothes shopping (and sometimes book shopping, because I could just give him a list), but he's off in Utah helping his mother redo her basement. So I had to shop alone.

I'd better get back to reading, and watching Vin Diesel be gorgeous. Don't mind me, my Vin Diesel lust has been high lately. Higher than normal, and I'm not sure why, but I'm not going to complain.
