Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] surfergirl17:

Without giving any context at all, write five things you really wanted to say to people in the last month, but haven't said.

1. You're draining me dry and I'm sorry I don't have enough to give.
2. Where the hell do you get off talking that way? Your life is not any better than anyone else's; most days you hate it, so why do you act like it's so wonderful now?
3. I hate you sometimes even though I barely know you. When I can purge the hate, you're really rather fun.
4. I love you, I just don't know if I'm good for you.
5. I love you and wish things were different.

I still haven't decided how much I'm going to say about Serenity before everyone can see it. I think everyone should go into the movie unspoiled, because it will have so much more of an impact on you. However, I know some people choose to spoil themselves, and I know some people have already seen it, and discussion would be good. There is one part in particular I'd like to talk about, because I keep seeing arguments about it, and I can truly understand the varying opinions.

My XMM ficathon is stuck. My cowriting with [livejournal.com profile] shisaiyan is stuck. The secret project is stuck. The cowriting with [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop is now stuck, though I wrote over 6,000 words on it last night.

[livejournal.com profile] impatienke and I went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Friday night. We missed the first few minutes of the movie, which I'm sure was when they actually find the pants, but I still enjoyed it.

Though I usually prefer book versions to movie versions, I really liked the changes made here. They were a little older and since they always sounded older to me, it worked.

I really liked Bridget's story more this time around. When I read the book (and I'll admit I've only read it all the way through once, years ago), I didn't really get that she was upset because she'd used him and still couldn't fill the emptiness inside, but more that she hated that he'd used her. Her motivations this time around felt much more clear and to the point.

I loved Carmen's story, but then I did in the book as well. Also, America Ferrera is gorgeous and I was again glad they'd aged them up somewhat because holy cow, the lust. She's an incredible actress as well; most of the scenes that hit me the hardest emotionally were hers with her father.

Tibby's story killed me. It killed me in the book, too, but some of the visual imagery in the movie made it hit even harder. Bailey reminds me so damn much of Taz. I'm having trouble with my slash goggles, though; there were moments in the movie I saw the beginnings of slash for Tibby and Bailey, if Bailey'd had the chance to grow up. When Tibby tries to give Bailey the pants, and Bailey talks about how their magic already reached her, I bawled.

Lena's story had the biggest change to me, and I enjoyed it far more than I did in the book. It made more sense and actually touched me deeply. (In the books, I didn't feel for her until book two, when he comes to visit, but they are then forbidden because of his other woman.) I'm a sucker for forbidden love in foreign settings. When she strips down and swims in the water, her inner monologue then is brilliant.

I understood the cut of almost all the siblings, but I missed Lena's sister in particular.

All in all, good movie and it made me want to reread the books.

Stickyness...

Stuck, huh? Want me to write another chapter or do we need to have another brainstorming session?
