I am just over five hundred words into the Oz, Bill Weasley, and Gambit story, mostly words I wrote long-hand at work ages ago when I first wanted stories about them, and [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe and [livejournal.com profile] velvetandlace each wrote me Oz/Bill/Gambit with poker, which is what I wanted. Here is a link to my entry about it and their stories in the comments.

I am now stuck. Mostly I wanted to make this a brief snippet, just a scene which would make me happy, but now I want to write a long story and make it all plotty and make them work together, and I just don't think I can write that. (I mean, I know I can write long, plotty stories with lots of action, but I mostly save that for my original stories these days, and less on the fanfic.)

I guess I just need someone else's opinion on it. Maybe. I don't know.

I am watching "Surprise" and will watch "Innocence" shortly after. Somehow I have become a Buffy/Angel fan. How in the world did this happen? HOW? I actually cheered them on at one point in last night's marathon. What has happened to me?

Also, I continue to love Chris Beck's score. Amazing.

[livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit wrote "Wet Hot English Summer" which has Hermione researching magical guerilla warfare and hot days juxtaposed with rainstorms and Ginny being distracting and devious. It's wonderful, has great imagery, and a good Hermione voice.

So I planned to go to bed hours ago, and then I talked to [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop and then I started reading fic and then I read more fic and now I have to do more recs. Because woah, my brain has been eaten by this universe. No, completely eaten.

First there is [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky's All Too Sweet To Last which is skateboarding Hermione and just fun and sad and wonderful. And then there is the series of doom, this after the end of the world series written by both [livejournal.com profile] lalejandra and [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky and I could read this all night. It is insane and I can't believe it is so good, but I enjoy it mroe than I have words to say at this time of night. It is a Harry Potter/BtVS/Angel/LOTRIPS and woah. How can that be so much fun? But it is.

I also really like [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky's Five Families Connor Was Not Magically Squeezed Into After His Real Vampire Dad Slit His Throat which has Connor in Angel (of course), BtVS, Arrested Development, Supernatural (eeee!), The O.C., and Harry Potter. And I'm not often fond of Connor (though he has grown on me a lot) but I love all these versions of him, even in the two shows I do not watch.

And because this rec list is apparently the [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky show, Only Your Brother Knows The Places You've Been, which is Super Mario Bros fic. Yeah. And I loved it.

So I've made a dent in my to be read fic list and now I'm going to bed because I can't stop sneezing and I hope it's something over here around my desk and when I leave I will stop. Plus I am so tired I feel a little drunk.

I've added the next two she's posted. I still love the series and it keeps building in beautiful, beautiful layers.

[livejournal.com profile] kphoebe took a throw-away, sleepy desire for gratuitous sexy redhaired men and turned it into a believable, wonderful, breathtaking series dealing with Gambit/Bill, of course, but others as well. Many others. She's still writing on the series and I am awed and overwhelmed by the wonder of the fact she's writing them for me.

So really, please go read the stories and let her know what you think of them.

They are vaguely X-Men movieverse (around X3) and post-war Harry Potter, with some timeline tweaking to make things fit.

+ Sexy Redhead Convention, Bill Weasley/Gambit
+ Good Guys, Hermione Granger/Logan
+ Pack Mule, Bobby Drake
+ Little Sisters, Ron Weasley, Piotr
+ The More They Stay the Same, Draco Malfoy/Mystique

Encourage her, please. These are fabulous stories.

Also, if anyone else knows of any such crossovers, please point them out to me (or feel free to write some for me. What can I say, I'm greedy for stories.) because I think I want to write my own.

All right, I confess, I have two journals. (This is not the first time I've confessed, however.) One is fandom (this journal, obviously) and one is mostly real life with just a smidge of fandom thrown in. The other night I watched an episode of the X-Men cartoon (the older one) and noted how Gambit's red ponytail reminded me of Bill Weasley. I decided I liked the comparison and wanted someone to write me Gambit/Bill Weasley because of the sheer hotness of it all.

To my complete surprise, someone did! (Actually, I think at least two someones are writing it for me, but only one has posted any of them so I can link.)

There are more she's written, I've read, and she's editing, and I think more I have read she's still working on writing. Encourage her, please. These are fabulous stories.

All of you Harry Potter fans and Buffy fans must go read this story.

Older and Far Away by [livejournal.com profile] musesfool is amazing. It matches up Remus Lupin and Xander Harris in a way that fits, both the universes and the characterizations. Remus is a fabulous narrator and through his eyes we have so many world-building details and such wonderful characterization. There is a mention of Giles that killed me with the perfection. Remus gets caught up in their trouble and it's wonderful. Xander sounds like himself awkward and endearing and confident all at the same time.

Go read it. You really won't regret it. I'm desperate for more.

On another note, I really need a better mood theme.
