1. Why did you sign up for Dreamwidth?
I snagged the user name when I could, because I'd been on LJ with it since 2003 or 2004 (though my non-fannish account has been on there since 2001), and as more people moved over here, I started doing most of my reading here. Since DW makes crossposting so easy, it is also where I post.
2. Why did you choose your journal name?
At the time I signed up for the fannish LJ account to separate my fannish presence from my personal/professional presence, I wanted to be writing at this gorgeous blue glass writing desk, but alas, we could only afford the clear glass version. So I'm writing from the blue desk here.
3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
Only to LJ. I'm on social media professionally now, and can't keep up with switching back and forth from fannish to professional accounts. But I still read at LJ and have a bunch of friends who only read there, too, so I crosspost everything on this account.
4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?
Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Hulu, Netflix, video games. Mostly when I'm on a computer these days, I'm either doing day job, writing, chatting with my writing group, or calling the Girl while writing.
5. How about when you're not on the computer?
Playing with the dog, reading, hanging out with J or my dad, road tripping to visit friends and family.
6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I am terrible about making sure people know important things about me, but I'm also open about those things in general, so I assume people know. If you have any questions about me, ever, just ask. I'll either answer truthfully or tell you it's none of your business. Generally the former, though.
7. What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
I'm mostly here to read your guys' posts, not for communities.
8. What community do you wish was more active?
Not applicable.
9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
For a long time, yes, but there's been so much crossover that I think most of the people I know who are awesome and would be awesome together already know each other at this point.
10. Tell me about your default icon.
It's an image from the end of Blue Crush, because Michelle Rodriguez is amazing in it, and there is so much love between Anne Marie and Eden that it leaps off the screen, no matter what heterosexual romance also occurs.
11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
More useful image hosting! I get so frustrated by it.
12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile?13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
I don't even remember what's in my interests list. I haven't updated it in years. Maybe not even this decade.
14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
My first online fandom was Buffy, back in 1998 with the Willow/Angel mailing list. I still see a ton of talk about Buffy, and plenty of fics, but what I love most is that I'm still friends with a bunch of people I met back then, and I get to see how their lives have changed and where their fannish interests have gone.
15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
LEVERAGE. I'm about 3/4 into my second watch-through, and when this is done, I am going to get DVDs and watch the behind the scenes commentary based on some of your recommendations. Not sure I'll ever write it (there's a humor to it that is way outside my wheelhouse), but I will be diving into fic reading soon.
16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
The fun things I've been writing lately.
17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
A good number, though I stopped counting a long time ago.
18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?
Much of anything anymore, mostly because so much of my time is spent writing. There's not much I consider too personal, it's more about time and energy.
19. Any questions from the audience?
UMMM. I guess let me know if you have any questions.
20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
It's fine.
21. What's your favorite thing about Dreamwidth?
You guys.
