So this morning's version of not sleeping includes Blue Crush. Of course. Still feeling that Hawaii love. Anyway, they also have Denise Bee in common, beyond the Oahu connection. She plays the cashier in Blue Crush and Ula's wife in 50 First Dates.

Now that I'm perusing the connections of IMDB, I learn that:

+ Sanoe Lake is in Creature of Darkness (2008): The story of four young couples drawn to the remote dunes for off-roading in their extreme machines. But the outing turns into a night of terror when they are attacked by the Catcher, a skilled and brutal hunter of human specimens for alien science. (With Devon Sawa.)
+ Sanoe is also in Half-Life (2008): A precocious boy and his jaded sister use their imaginative powers to escape a confining home-life, save their self-destructive mother from her charmingly manipulative boyfriend, and finally reinvent their world in a mind bending conclusion.
+ Michelle has some interesting movies coming up:
1) Avatar (2009): A band of humans are pitted in a battle against a distant planet's indigenous population. (With Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana! GLEE!)
2) TrĂ³pico de sangre (2009): This is the true story of Minerva Mirabal and her sisters who dared to stand up against the Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo and were killed in 1960 as a result.
3) Let us not even speak of the new Fast and the Furious movie. LET US NOT EVEN SPEAK OF IT.
+ Hancock looks like it might be awesome.

So THAT'S what Avatar is about. I was wondering.

Were you around when I mentioned my sort of unsurprised, kind of sad, kind of accepting discovery that Michelle ain't all that smart? Not linguistically, anyway. That was a bit lame. Blah. I mention that because I watched an interview on YT with her about her character in Battle in Seattle and yeaaaah.

Yeah, they waited awhile to release any information about Avatar. I'd been wondering for awhile about it.

No, I don't think I was around then. I've only heard her in a few commentaries, though my friend [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel wrote this awesome paper about her for one of her grad classes awhile ago.

Oh, I don't know. But having watched that interview, and the one on the Bloodrayne dvd, and reading the things she posts on her website... I'm being completely snobby and judgemental, here. Maybe she just doesn't express herself that well through language. Hell, I don't most of the time. I think she has smart ideas, I'm just not getting them. Wow, that sounded patronising as well. But do you know what I mean? Like, especially in that letter about all her charges and how her work has been affected by it. Maybe not high literature but you can tell she thinks about things a lot.

AHA! Seriously? What about, though?
