Finally I have time to sit down and watch at least one of the episodes I'm behind.

Eureka )

And now another episode. Apparently, Wild Hogs aired before it. It reminds me of my dad.

Smite )

Okay, I still hate the way they ended last season and opened this season. I think it's done too often and is a shortcut for true tension and character growth. I still have issues with the lack of women and characters of color. The homophobia and racism and sexism gets to me a lot.

All that said, I still like enough of what's going on to keep watching, because the stuff I do like? I basically love.

From the five billion previews during my show, I am left with this question: Are they ever going to stop making Saw movies? EVER?

Finally, Right Click Drool's current theme is motorcycles. Appropriate, yes?

Has anyone picked up the North Country EP, the soundtrack? Is it a good collection?

So short_takes is gearing up for a new challenge and as we were discussing themes, I mentioned one I'd like to see is alternate universes, such as apocalypses or werewolves or vampire hunting or teen rock stars or whatever. Which inspired me.

As soon as I get back from a meeting, I'm spending the weekend writing (I have deadlines coming up) and cleaning, so tot ake a break with something that is just fun, nothing else, if you want to give me a prompt for a fandom I've written (see tag list for fandoms) and an alternate universe for that world, I'll throw together a drabble or a ficlet or something.

BSC fic will probably get written first, since that's what inspired this.

I really, really love the Simpsons episode "That 90s Show" with the grunge and all the 90s things and all the references to the future to come. It makes me happy every time I see it.

Someone described Never Cry Werewolf to me as Near Dark redone with werewolves. This intrigued me. What also intrigued me is that it was a movie I missed on the Sci Fi channel when it first aired. I watch a lot of cheesy horror on the Sci Fi channel (my dvr is bursting with movies right now, actually), and it surprised me that I hadn't seen this one.

The IMDB synopsis: Jared Martin moves next door to the Hansetts, along with his hot motorcycle and eerie, ill-tempered dog. Although everyone else in the neighborhood takes an instant liking to him, Loren Hansett can't get over the bad vibes her new neighbor gives her. She starts to spy on his nocturnal activities and comes to believe that a recent killing might the work of a werewolf who happens to be her new neighbor. Her internet surfing provides a lot of collaborative detail but everyone but her friend Steven dismiss her story as teen-aged fantasy. Fearing for her life, she convinces Steven to take her to a gun shop to buy silver bullets in a gun shop, where their neighbor's supernatural dog attacks. When she dispatches the beast, her actions get the attention of Redd Tucker, a washed-up TV hunting show host to believe her as well. When Steven is attacked by the werewolf and Loren's brother goes missing, she and Redd team up to kill the lycanthrope before he can finish them both off.

Werewolf! Motorcycle! A female lead hunting the werewolf! Silver bullets! I can't believe I haven't already watched this movie!

So, with no further ado, Never Cry Werewolf.

spoilers )

Okay, so basically? BEST. WEREWOLF. MOVIE. EVER. And Loren is my new favorite character. So badass.

To continue my fantastic movies with fantastic women trend today, I've put in Blue Crush. I've been meaning to watch it for weeks now, but haven't made the time, so now, while I'm writing crossover werewolf hunter fic (instead of what I should be writing), I'm now watching surfing. I used to watch Blue Crush and Lilo and Stitch to get myself all excited for Hawaii. (Oh, man, I need to go back. I wonder if I should try to go next fall before I start work. Hmm.)

I have a Blue Crush fic in progress right now anyway and now I'm having thoughts about Eden (as usual). I may have to switch to that fic soon, even though I really need to be writing other things in particular.

I love this movie so much.

I know I'm a posting fiend today. I'm just making up for all the days where I don't post anything. Anyway, [community profile] yuletide starts taking fandom nominations next week and I'm getting really excited about it. It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday.

Fandoms I am considering requesting:

+ Blue Crush (obviously)
+ Whip It (OMG SO AWESOME)
+ Never Cry Werewolf (I seriously doubt anyone will want to write this, though.)
+ Sons of Anarchy
+ Baby-Sitters Club/California Diaries
+ Jurassic Park series
+ The Fast and the Furious series
+ The Lost Boys

I'm sure I will think of more later. Are you doing Yuletide? What fandoms do you want?

P.S. It is possible and even likely that I have had too little sleep and too much caffeine and that's why I'm giddy beyond belief today. Also, mania swing. FUN TIMES.

ETA: Finished Blue Crush, have now moved on to Silver Bullet, with Cursed to follow if I'm still awake. PLUS, inspired by other people talking about the alcohol they're drinking, I decided I wanted to drink something, too. For awhile I thought I would have to drink warm white wine (I don't drink much anymore so I don't keep it ready), but then I found a partial bottle of rum in the fridge. I wish I'd thought of this before I finished most of my soda, but it will do.

Oh, I've been craving hard apple cider, too. Maybe I'll pick up some cider tomorrow and make my own. YUM.
