That book meme, because I have no fic to post. I was supposed to, just a short piece, and then it exploded and is going so much more detailed than I originally intended. It will be awhile on this one, which is really frustrating, because it was for someone's birthday.
Anyway. Book meme.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people
I'm not tagging.
For once, the nearest book isn't Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (which, by the way, I am not enjoying at all, and am actually forcing myself to finish because my book club is reading it). It's nearby, but not right next to me.
"Seabloom is having a hard time finding a vein from which to draw more blood. Mech shows him. Their hands are blue with cold, but they do not put on their gloves between blood samples, because there is too much to do."
from The Company of Wolves by Peter Steinhart
(Other books in that pile include Education of a Wandering Man by L'Amour, Mainfesta: Young Women, Feminism, and the Future by Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards, The Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, The Myth of the Monstrous Male and Other Feminist Fables by John Gordon, and Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat, just so you know what other things you might have been given instead.)
August is a slow month, not much happening in it. I'll be glad when it's over, and I can move on to the next stage of my plans. I'll be glad when summer is over, and the work slows down, and the heat lets up, though those things might drag out until November, the way it looks.
I look forward to new television. What are you all watching this fall?
I'll definitely do Bones and Supernatural, maybe Lost (though after last season, maybe not), and if I can work it in, Grey's Anatomy. Other than that, I don't know.
