cold, lonely morning
Dec. 3rd, 2005 10:19 amThough ten minutes ago S. was listening to a country music station, now a (non-country) song which reminds me of Anna and Jez is on the radio. It makes me want to write more fanfic even though a) the scene I want to write I've already written, b)
thestalkycop is not around (and since this is our story, it makes a difference), and c) I need to be writing original fiction this morning.
I have been at work two and a half hours. It is over half over, but it is dragging so slow. We have had exactly five people come in, and only two of them gave us money. A third is an insurance auto repair, so eventually we will get paid, but not yet. The other asked a ton of questions and then left to take better measurements.
M. is in the first auto bay tinting a car on his own time, S. is in the glass shop cutting mirrors (and priming part of his four wheeler, which he's torn apart because he was bored--I thought my boredom was destructive), and I am sitting here freezing. I have the desktop up with the internet on the right arm of the desk and the laptop on the left, with a novel open. I'm about ten percent away from completing it and need to get to work.
Did I mention I'm freezing? I'm wearing a heavy long-sleeve dark blue shirt under a light blue t-shirt (with a surf scene on the front, because I miss the ocean!), blue jeans (which drag the ground and need a tight belt, yay losing weight), thick socks, and steel-toed boots, but I am still cold. I wore my jacket for the first hour, and am considering putting it back on, but the ends of the sleeves get in the way when I type.
I am also starving (well, now I'm actually full, but all morning, SO HUNGRY.) I had a smart ones breakfast sandwich and a diet Dr. Pepper. Then a smart ones mini-pizza and a diet Dr. Pepper. AND THEN I was STILL HUNGRY so I had smart ones chicken enchiladas suiza, a diet Dr. Pepper, and a GIANT glass of water. I have only been awake since 6:30 and that is a TON of food. (Plus a ton of diet soda. I do not normally drink so much, just one with lunch and one or two at home at night. I drink big glasses of water all day during the work week.)
Now I have to pee, but it is difficult to go when I am the only one in the office. I wouldn't worry so much, except if anyone walks in, there is my laptop and a ton of expensive mirrors and glass and other computers and oy.
Our holiday decorations look nice though.
I really want to write fanfic, but I figure if I finish the second draft of the novel within the next week, I can focus all the rest of the month on fanfic. I want to write 100,000 words this month, so that leaves me with a lot of fanfic to write.
+ XMM backup story
+ Keya's Christmas present story
+ Yuletide story
+ femslash ficathon story
+ Threesome backup story
+ women ficathon story (non-shippy)
+ "Queertet Revisited"
+ crossover stories with
shisaiyan
+ Mean Girls holiday story
+ Lost/[data embargo] crossover story
+ Oz/Gambit/Bill Weasley poker threesome story
+ XMM Piotr-->Logan story
+ Lupin and werewolves story
And more still. Gah, better get to work on the novel.
