Because this is a journal for fandom-y things, but I have no time to start in on the various thoughts I want to write about, I'll just post a story recommendation to begin the journal. Not a bad way, since the stories are why I join any fandom, though the meta helps keep me there.

Jubilee and Fifty-Foot Janine by [livejournal.com profile] argentine_fic is possibly the strangest, but best executed, cross-over story I've ever seen in any form of the X-men fandom. She takes a character who is often underused or poorly written, even in the comics themselves, and reveals an energetic, intense, and intelligent main character.

What's more, the author manages to warp an icon from her childhood--The Baby-Sitter's Club--into something with depth and meaning and creativity. The use of lesser known, and liked, characters in both fandoms allows the cross-over to slide into place with ease and provides a smooth transition from one storyline to the other, leaving this beautiful, touching, and hot femme-slash story of two girls, almost woman, who just don't quite fit into the worlds they came from, but who find some sort of peace together.

And did I mention it was hot? The sex here is believable, descriptive, and delicious, and it could easily be extrapolated from the source material of both stories.

Go, read, and let the author know what you think. And let me know, too, if you like or dislike what I'm reccing. Let me know if there are stories I should read. Just let me know anything.
