Just have two things to say.

One, woah.

Two, if you don't watch this show, why not? I only started watching the first season during season two, since I could Netflix the miniseries and season one (in fact, I only just finished season two tonight, the final two episodes right after work), but I am so glad I did. It is amazing. It doesn't pull its punches. The first season was great, the second slumped a little but was overall enjoyable, and the third season--it was almost hard to watch, it was so good.

I'm actually feeling a little raw after it, and I'm filling in tomorrow morning, so I'm off to bed. Maybe it will be quiet at work and I can catch up on all the commentary.

---

I watched Dr. Who for the first time, because there was a werewolf. It's a weird little show, isn't it?

That was actually one of the poorer episodes, IMO.

Really? I can see that, it wasn't a very strong episode, though I wasn't sure how much of that was because I really had no idea what to expect from the show.

I'll have to give other episodes a try. One of my younger sisters has started watching an earlier season and she loves it, so I'll have to borrow from her.

Since you asked: I don't have cable.

Everyone on my Flist seems thrilled/shocked/impressed by whatever happened in tonight's episode, so I'm glad the wait was worth it.

That is a very good reason to not watch it. Even with cable, I didn't pick it up until the end of season two (not that I started watching at the end of season two, but I borrowed season one from Netflix and caught up from there).

The wait was definitely worth it for the season three premiere. Unfortunately, with all the family issues since October, I've not been able to watch any of the later episodes. I'll catch up eventually.

Oh God, I know. How good was that? I haven't seen the second season since it aired, but I was right back there with them all and it was just PAINFUL.

It was painful! That's why it was so good, I think, it really, truly hurt. (Of course, watching the second half of season two in a rush the two days before it started didn't help with that gut-punch feeling.)

Because of family emergencies, I've not watched any of season three since then, and I can't wait to catch up, maybe over one of the upcomming holiday weekends. Is it still as powerful now?

Yes, but that's the point.
The most recent series is brilliant - but only if you watch it all in the right order.

My sister has started watching it now, too, and she seems to love it, so I'll have to give it another try in the correct order.

I'm new to Dr. Who, but yes, it is weird, and then some. (Actually, IMO, it could use a little more severity and gravity.)

That's kind of what I thought, it was a little too heavy on the weird. I don't know if it was just that werewolf episode or what, but while somewhat interesting, it was too strange and not serious enough to keep my attention. I haven't watched an episode after it.

Yeah, I dropped it too. It's OK to have lightness and jokes and whatnot, but I need the essential ideas expressed to be serious and effecting and asking something of me, in a way of emotional or intellectual commitment/ attention; and not just a few cheap laughs or mere entertainment.
