Don't forget, [livejournal.com profile] femslash08 is taking sign-ups through Wednesday here. I've already seen a number of wild card requests I want to write.

---

I have a sinus thing. I feel stuffed up and exhausted and sore. I'll need to go get meds soon, and more tissues. So much for exploring the city today. Maybe I'll at least find the library, and see if I can get a summer card only. Somehow, I doubt it, but we'll see.

Oh, yeah, I should probably eat at some point.

[livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest is taking prompts again. I had so much fun with this the last time I did it, and I hope you guys are interested, too. So far I've submitted prompts for The Fast and the Furious, The Lost Boys, and Lilo & Stitch, though I'll probably add some Baby-sitters Club and maybe Blue Crush later.

Sign-ups are open for the [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon here. I don't think I'm signing up this year - I missed the deadline last year, and with all the changes coming up, I'm afraid of missing the deadline this year, too. But you should all sign up, because it is fun!

Women rock.

Yay! [livejournal.com profile] musesfool is running the Remix Redux again this year! Along with Yuletide, this is one of my favorite ficathons in which to participate, and I look forward to it every year. (You know, there was a time when I never did ficathons, ever. These days, that's about the only thing I do, at least when it comes to writing fic [though I guess that's been changing since I went back to school and fear writing to a deadline]. It's funny to look at how my fandom life has changed over the years.)

I encourage you guys to participate once sign-ups go life (tomorrow, I think). It's a lot of fun. Hard work, don't get me wrong, but a lot of fun.

So I've been sitting here, trying to catch up on my flist (impossible task) and decide what to write for the xmmficathon due next month. (I would be working on the femgenficathon also due next month [did I say how grateful I was that the deadline was extended? Very grateful] but all the source books are still packed. Next weekend, or the long weekend after it, I intend to finish it before class starts. I also intend to finish the xmmficathon.) I know which prompt I'm writing, and I'm excited about it. However, all I want to do is write hot Colossus high school everything-but-sex situations. Guys, girls, I don't care whom he is paired with, I just want it. Oh, Colossus. (Everything-but-sex covers a lot of things -- blow jobs in the closet, frottage, heavy petting at the movies, etc.) Unfortunately, that doesn't actually fit what I need to be writing, and also I don't think I could do it justice.

Maybe I'll write some more Star/Maria from The Lost Boys instead. [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop asked for some, and what the girl wants, she gets, it sometimes just takes awhile. (She's been asking me to write what I'm writing for femgen for quite awhile now.)

Stupid blank Word document. I think I'll copy and paste the prompt in just to have something.

I think, despite my work tonight, my spn_50states is going to be late and not posted tomorrow.

On the other hand, I've just watched Blue Crush again, for maybe the five hundredth time, and as always, I am filled with glee at the end. Not where she has that super cheesy perfect wave ending, or where she and the football player kiss, but where she strokes Eden's face and then kisses her! Sure, it's on the cheek (or the temple, depending on the exact angle) but it's still a caress and a kiss. She knows who really loves her.

Yes, this is research for the spn_50states story, I swear. Which continues to be an awesome idea, though the execution is weak, as usual.

The prompt claiming for [livejournal.com profile] spn_xx closes tomorrow. This is a good opportunity to get more writing out about women in that world, plus there are some great prompts available. Go claim one now!

At a coffee shop. Have a giant iced tea, just finished a bagel, and am writing.

Current files open:

+ "eden in the morning" (working title) - A Blue Crush fic about, shockingly, Eden in the mornings. I think I've finally figured out how to write it.
+ "Snake in the Grass (Wearing Dog Skin)" - A The Breed fic for a ficathon.
+ two beta copies of "Snake in the Grass (Wearing Dog Skin)"
+ "The Marching Band Refused to Yield" (working title) - A Bring It On alternate universe about cheerleaders, marching bands, and the way Missy and Torrance love each other.

It's a shame messenger seems to be down right now. I could use some company.

It's too bad my sisters and I are going to St. Louis on Sunday and not Saturday because Serenity is playing there for the Equality Now fundraiser. (Other locations and dates at that link.)

[livejournal.com profile] spn_xx is taking prompts for a women in Supernatural ficathon. I am really, really tempted, even though I've pretty much reached my limit of ficathons for the summer.

The ficathon is for:

Female characters from the Supernatural television series or the related Origins comics

Original female character(s) in an SPN setting

Crossovers featuring female characters from SPN in the setting of another source text

Crossovers featuring female characters from another source text in an SPN setting

It's exactly the kind of ficathon I love. Lke I said, very tempting.

You would think, after writing [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel's birthday story, I would swear off new fandoms for awhile. You would think I would learn. You would be wrong, but, you know, that would be logical.

I really want to write The Breed girl slash.

I'm going to have to price it locally tomorrow and see if anyone can beat Amazon. Not likely, considering there's only about one option in town, but I would really like to get started on this story (it's for the Twice Told Fandom challenge), instead of the one I already started for it.

I just have the perfect scenario. Damn it. Another new fandom in less than a month? I used to be a one fandom woman, you know. I swear. About ten years ago, but still.

Edited to Add: Okay, it is going to be very hard to write this, because the character's name is spelled Sara and it needs an h, people. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop. I've typed Sarah so many billions of times I don't know if I'll be able to make the switch.

[livejournal.com profile] twicetoldfandom is an interesting new community gearing up for this challenge: some members create art and then other members write stories based on that art. However, multiple people are assigned to each piece in order to see the different type of stories which evolve.

I love that type of thing, people writing from prompts or inspirations, focusing on different aspects of an image or a phrase or whatever.

Right now the mods are checking interesting, so go take a look.

So I just got my dream assignment for this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_50states (you can sign up for states here), which is Hawaii. Yay Hawaii. Now I just have to narrow it down because off the top of my head I have approximately fifty different legends I could tweak for the SPN universe.

So much fun! Obviously I am trying to get lots of fic writing done before I leave for school and no longer have any free time.
escritoireazul: (blue crush giddy)
You guys really should be posting prompts for [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest. It's a lot of fun, and it's really inspiring to come up with prompts. It's made me want to write more.

In hopes of convincing you to either a) come give prompts, b) write these stories for me, or c) do both of those options, I am going to give you a list of prompts I've given so far.

Fandoms: 300 (movie), Bring It On, The Cave, The Fast and the Furious, The Lost Boys, Mean Girls, and one crossover, The Fast and the Furious/Mean Girls. (I know!)

prompts ahoy )

Are you ready to write and/or prompt now? I hope so!
escritoireazul: (vin running out of time)
Apparently [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest is taking prompts for its small fandom, er, fest. I have, of course, posted The Fast and the Furious prompts so far, pushing Letty/Mia, but I plan to add more later. These prompts can later be claimed for fic or art purposes, and I think it's a good way to get smaller fandoms together.

Post your prompts here.

The sign-ups for [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolbtvs run through Monday. If you love old school Buffy and Angel, you really should sign up for this ficathon focused on Buffy seasons one, two, and three and Angel season one.

I'm at work and just got off the phone with a real piece of work. I think, when she sends her car in for a repair, which I said we would try to work in, we are not going to be able to do it. Oh, what a shame.

I don't know why people get so mean during the summer, but when the weather gets nice, the percentage of people who call in and act like jerks goes through the roof. I'm trying to help you, people, and you're lucky I'm paid so well. If it was out of the kindness of my heart, I'd let your glass break and your car fall apart and hopefully you'd die in the middle of it.

Fucking people.

+ The Apocalyptothon is taking fandom suggestions for the next ficathon. You don't have to intend to sign up for it to vote, so go list the things you'd love to read, if nothing else.

I love "normal" fandoms hit by an apocalypse myself. I'd love to see Blue Crush or The Fast and the Furious during an apocalypse. (In fact, I may have to write these anyway -- I just had a Blue Crush apocalypse idea.)

+ [livejournal.com profile] cofax7 has an interesting post defending John Winchester. I, personally, am a big fan of Daddy Winchester, and do not understand why so much of fandom hates him.

Before I went to the gym, J. came to get me because Billy Wirth's American Gladiators appearance was on tv during some marathon. This was back in the days of long hair and strong upper body. Yum. He still looked a lot like Dwayne then.

"A quiet guy who the fans really like." Yeah, that sounds about right.

This has been sitting here all evening. I should hit post. Also, as usual, I am really far behind on livejournal, and am reading sporadically whenever I get the chance.

Another gread idea I wish for you all to see!

[livejournal.com profile] batoutofkansas, a Supernatural fic challenge based around lyrics off of Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album, is now taking sign-ups.

I just realized if there was a post-apocalyptical fic challenge based on Meat Loaf lyrics I might possibly die of the glee.

(So I'm making my own, private challenge. It's not like I don't overdose on Meat Loaf every day anyway. I recently learned my boss also loves his music, and every other song on yesterday's office playlist was Meat Loaf. Heaven.)

Oh, people, do you know how much I love my remix redux assignment? A lot. A whole lot. I love it like a burning thing, which is actually a nice, clever word play based on the situation, but unfortunately none of you can know about that yet. Just know that I am beyond thrilled, I am absolutely giddy and filled with glee, both by the story I just chose to remix and by the actual assignment itself. You'll see why I'm amused and pleased.

That being said, here's a quick letter to whomever received me as an assignment.

Dear Remixer,

I'm sorry my stories aren't all located in one place. I hope between Escritoire Azul's automated fic archive and the older stories at Of Luv and Blood, you'll be able to find what you need. (Any story written since I started this livejournal can also be found in the memories, under FIC:[fandom].)

I am of the mind that the remixer should get as much freedom as possible, so really, whatever you want to do will be fine. I love to see how my stories are changed, twisted, dark corners brought into light, and I have never disliked how a remixer has treated my work.

I am already thankful that you chose to participate and that you received my name. The most important thing is I want you to have fun with whatever you do.
escritoireazul: (blue crush giddy)
Dear [livejournal.com profile] femslash07 author,

I'm really sorry this letter wasn't written sooner; I've been mostly offline for a little while, and didn't even realized I had received my assignment.

I am looking forward to reading whatever you write me; I know I will love it.

Here are some quick notes about my request, nothing major, just little things I like about the pairings.

letter )

So, in short, those are the things I like most about those characters. I know you'll write me something wonderful; thank you in advance, I can't wait to read it.

[livejournal.com profile] femslash07 is taking sign-ups here now.

I quite love my sign-up, and I really love a lot of the others. I feel all inspired to write, both for the ficathon itself, and on my own.

(Of course, the [livejournal.com profile] tenyearsofbuffy prompt list is inspiring me to write, too. I don't know if I'll sign up for a promt, because I don't know if I can choose just one, but I may write some, anyway. Actually, I've already started on one which Sarah liked.)
