The beginning of my responses to this meme: If you make up titles for stories I didn't write, I will respond with details of those non-written stories. Just think of the possibilities! (If you'd like to include details you'd like, pairings or fandom or something, do that too.)

There is still time to play, leave me a title or two or three or ten on that entry or on this one.

"Whiskey Moon"

Okay, this grew ridiculously long and I am definitely writing it, because I've already done the outline and part of the details. (Harry Potter/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover)

This is a Bill and Oz story waiting to happen. After HBP, Bill thinks he can handle being part werewolf, but not even Fleur can ease his frustration during the full moon. He asks for the really risky assignments, thinking he can lose himself in the work, but he's not allowed, because he's a werewolf and he's not to be trusted, even though he wants, more than anything, to just be Bill. So he's given busy work, and he's sent to do a little reconnaissance in Leeds and he doesn't learn anything helpful, and he gets caught up in his anger at not being able to give anything to the war, so he loses control of his temper with the contact.

The reader learns all this later, though, and the story opens with Bill in a muggle pub in Leeds, drinking some dark brew and listening to a band play through some songs he doesn't recognize, but there's a wildness to them, even under the mournful tunes, and he keeps looking at them though he doesn't know why. It's the lead guitarist he looks at most, and though Bill doesn't know hardly anything about muggle guitars, he knows that's where the wild notes are coming from. Then the guitarist looks at him, and Bill knows: werewolf. He moves to the far side of the room, in the corner, hiding, but he doesn't want to leave.

After their set, the guitarist brings over two whiskeys and introduces himself as Oz. They sit and drink in silence (the whiskey isn't as good as firewhiskey, but after the first sip, it's not so bad) for awhile and then Bill asks about the werewolf, and he actually babbles a little, because Oz's reticence brings that out in people. Oz answers his questions, sort of, and then says he can help because he's learned to control the wolf.

This actually isn't much help to Bill, but right away Bill thinks of how useful it might be for recruiting werewolves to their side, and in particular for Remus, even though he's not sure he believes Oz. The full moon is only a day away, so Oz offers to stay and show him what he means. Bill is meant to be back home the next morning, but agrees, and then continues to agree when Oz offers to share his room so Bill won't have to try to find lodging, and Bill doesn't even think about owling back to the others, it's so nice to be around someone who doesn't know what's going on, and doesn't look sideways at him like he's a monster, and doesn't not trust him to do the important jobs. Bill explains about how he doesn't actually change, and says something about being a freak, even though he didn't plan to do so, and he's grateful when Oz doesn't push.

The next night, full moon night, Oz and Bill lock themselves in Oz's room and barricade the doors and windows, because Bill worries what might happen to others if Oz can't control the wolf and gets out. He doesn't spare a thought for his own safety. He can feel the moon rise, know when it's there, in the sky, and he can feel it tugging at his body, which can't change, and Oz's, which won't.

For the first time in a long time Bill is interested in magic, and wants to work with Oz to figure out why Oz can control it so much he doesn't change at all when the most they can do with potions is keep the wolf calm and let the human mind stay in control. Oz is willing to do some experiments, as long as he's not locked up. "I spent too many years in a cage." There's a note of sadness, and even more when he asks about the kind of magic Bill does, and Bill's curious but wants to give Oz the same courtesy he received, so he doesn't push.

Then Oz kisses him, and all thoughts of courtesy and polite conversation fly out of Bill's head, because kissing another werewolf is the damndest thing, amazing, and it's like he can taste the moon, and he doesn't think about Fleur or the war or not being gay. Oz is delicate, pale skin stretched too tight over bird-like bones, and his shoulder blades stick out, and his arms and legs and stomach are muscled and hard, but he still looks fragile. Oz is scarred and tired and feels wonderful against Bill's body.

The next morning Leeds is hit by a Death Eater contingent and there's blood and fire and the Dark Mark in the sky and Bill is terrified for Oz, but Oz is a fighter, scrappy, and they both get free and manage to save some people along the way, but not enough, never enough.

The story ends with them on the road, trying to make it back to headquarters without being noticed, so they can't use magic and can't move much out in the open, and they're both dirty and bloody and injured and a little wild.

The sequel would be "Whiskey and Chocolate" when they make it back and hole up with Remus, who knows the other werewolves are going to attack, and who has an extremely dark relationship with Tonks (on both their accounts), and there's Oz, who can help Remus be more human, but Remus isn't sure he wants it, because more human or not, he'll never be normal.

Obviously this is going to take me awhile, and I have a shipment to check in, so I'll leave this for now. But wow, this is the best meme ever. Please come play! Give me a title and I'll give you some details (or, you know, an entire outline, depending).
