Ha, yeah, that's the first thought I had, too. And I did read the books a lot when I was a kid (and sometimes now if I go into a nostalgic moment), but that's not quite the same, I don't think.
I've heard some good things about a new book series, Canterbury Crest (or something like that), which I've heard is more like The Saddle Club meets Gossip Girl, sort of what I want, but again, that's books and not t.v. Not that I prefer t.v., I just want the trifecta right now.
