It is bad movie night while I take a break from today's actual plan to do some writing. I'm watching A Sound of Thunder from 2005: A time-travel expedition to hunt dinosaurs results in a disastrous alteration of history. Shoddy adaptation of Ray Bradbury's classic short story.

Um, Sci-Fi Channel? Shouldn't you maybe not call a program shoddy? I mean, I know you're kinda ridiculous (see the name change I refuse to use), but even this show has commercial sponsors and all.

Plus, I don't know about shoddy, but twenty minutes in it's fun. Though to be fair, I don't think I've read the short story, so I need to get on that.

Creator of the machine is pissed that they're using it to take hunters back in time to hunt animals on the verge of death anyway. We're taking you back 65 million years to hunt the greatest predator the world's ever seen. Do they mean in general? Or do they specifically mean T-Rex, which is how this line normally plays out and I am not convinced the T-Rex was the greatest predator the world's ever seen.

Also, there's some bit about mapping the DNA of the animals before some disease with hopes to recreate them in the present (which is the future). That's kind of cool on the surface.

Good to know in the future, there's still only one black guy in technology.

The second rule of time jumping is not to leave anything behind. But what's the first rule?
Third rule is don't bring anything back.
First rule, never change anything in the past. But as Homer taught us in that episode of The Simpsons, there really is no way to go back without changing something. Even just by stepping on the ground, who knows how many bugs or plants you kill. SO THIS IS FLAWED. (Oh, wait, maybe they stand on a pad. But what about all the things they killed when they built the pad?)

Hee.

They are hunting T-Rex or something close enough.

They don't test the guns before they leave? REALLY? REALLY?

So it's actually kind of fun, so I'll get back to writing and let it play in the background. Also, I need food soon. The one banana I've had today isn't cutting it.

They get warm weather because they've changed history? I am just cold enough here that this sounds like a great idea. Also, huge (possibly killer) plants!

They've been hunting the SAME T-Rex each time, which makes it slightly more understandable. Except things have changed now. Weird.

We haven't even had snow that sticks yet and I'm freezing.
