Usually, this journal is full of fluffy fun fandom things. Not tonight.
PIERRE, South Dakota (AP) -- Gov. Mike Rounds signed legislation Monday banning nearly all abortions in South Dakota, setting up a court fight aimed at challenging the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
Sometimes I really, really hate this country. Oh wait, no, lots of times these days.
It's also very disconcerting to see more discussion everywhere about the Oscars than about this. Nothing at work about it, of course. They're all men. What do they care? It doesn't effect their bodies, their rights. (Yeah, no, don't live there, but that's not the point.)
Hmmm. It's possible I've just gone angry at people not even involved. Good thing it's time to take myself away from the computer.
No, wait, one more angry thing. This I'm sure some of the locals are involved in, or will be, or will at least support it.
Missouri legislators in Jefferson City considered a bill that would name Christianity the state's official "majority" religion.
" The resolution would recognize "a Christian god," and it would not protect minority religions, but "protect the majority's right to express their religious beliefs."
Just fuck you, Missouri. Fuck you. In fact, fuck you United States. Tomorrow I write letters. Tonight I seethe and try to figure out how to turn anger into productiveness.
