D.E.B.S.
Okay, there is some important information missing from the summary of D.E.B.S.. Without your recommendations, I doubt I would have ever rented it (though I did look at it a couple times in the video store, before I switched to Netflix), but I am so glad I did.
The summary from the Netflix sleeve: Encrypted within the S.A.T. is a secret test that measures a girl's potential for espionage. Amy (Sara Foster), Janet (Jill Ritchie), Dominique (Devon Aoki) and Max (Meagan Good) score so high that they're recruited to join the elite paramilitary group known as D.E.B.S. But when their mission to capture arch villainess Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster) gets complicated, even their spy skills might not be able to save them....
Which, okay, had I known earlier Jordana Brewster was in it, I would have been sold. I've been a fan of hers since The Fast and the Furious, though obviously not as much as Michelle Rodriguez. However, that one big, important piece of information missing?
LUCY DIAMOND IS A LESBIAN AND WE ARE INTRODUCED TO HER CHARACTER WHEN SHE GOES ON A BLIND DATE WITH A RUSSIAN ASSASSIN.
Okay, people, reread and absorb the previous statement.
And then she goes and has this romance with Amy and people, this is gold. Or maybe I should say diamonds. Sure it is cheesy and silly and ridiculous and over-the-top action movie without the cool explosions (mostly) but I happen to love over-the-top action movies and hello. Jordana Brewster has a girlfriend. And the cutest, funniest sidekick. And. Just. Seriously, this is awesome.
Let's recap: Girls with big guns in short skirts. Secret spy stuff which is like a sorority. Silly cheesy special effects. Jordana Brewster. A canon lesbian relationship WHICH HAS A HAPPY ENDING. Jordana Brewster in said canon lesbian relationship. Baby!Lucy with her little pink gun. Did I mention the big guns and short skirts and Lucy's gorgeous black outfit?
Obviously I have somehow managed to put together a flist with the best taste in the world. How, I still do not know, but all of you are awesome. First BSG and now D.E.B.S. People, what would you like me to watch next? I will listen to whatever you say!
thestalkycop, you MUST see this movie. I will bring it with me when I come visit if you don't get it before then. It's no Lost & Delirious but still great. We'll watch them together for balance.
Also, expect fic. I mean, come on, Jordana Brewster. Humina. Also, I feel so much better about the Letty/Mia OTP I have going on.
I think I want to write Letty/Mia to "Woman Like a Man" by Damien Rice. It's always been a Faith song to me, but I can see it fitting Letty, too.

On the one hand, I'm kind of glad, because it was nice to be surprised by Lucy being on the blind date and, if not surprised by her attraction to Amy after that point because it was terribly obvious that was how it was going to go, at least surprised that the relationship was not just subtextual.
I went into it knowing nothing, and had I heard that aspect of it sooner, I would have watched it much sooner, but since I didn't, I'm kind of glad I went in knowing nothing. It was a lot of fun that way.
I wonder if the short film is available on DVD. Hmmm.

It's AWESOME, Cabell. AWESOME! If we have any spare time during Wiscon (doubtful, I know), we should watch it. It made me think of you anyway, with the secret test in the S.A.T. and being superspies and all.

It's love. Just... love. It's the perfect fluffy lesbian movie. I sent it in a care package for my favorite bisexual because I convinced her that you have to see it to keep your lesbo street cred. They'll take your membership card, fer serious.

Yeah, lots of people pimped it to me, but I think everyone assumed the whole Big Gay Film thing was common knowledge and so they didn't mention it because of course I already knew. Unfortunately, I am bad with common knowledge and am often out of the loop.
Still, it was wonderful fun, and I'm glad to know it and love it now. Once I own it, I imagine I'll even write fic for it, maybe.
Last summer, after I'd seen it, I then bought I'd Tell You I Loved You But Then I'd Have to Kill You which, from the cover, was a book somewhat like D.E.B.S..
It was, somewhat, not nearly as fun, but it was missing the lesbians, and that made me so sad. I want book superspy lesbians as well as movie ones. I feel spoiled now, because the movie was so cute and so perfect.

If you're interested in seeing good movies with cute lesbian couples, you should see 'Eulogy' if you haven't already. Famke Janssen and Kelly Preston are just adorable:
Also, the movie itself is just absolutely hilarious.

I'm adding this to my Movies To Watch list, thank you for the suggestion. They look adorable together. (Have also added your fics to my To Read list.)
