'Love The Skin You're In', any type of Mystique fic. (Spoilers for X3.)



This is one of those numbered stories, where there are scenes of Mystique in various bodies. I'd probably do this as movieverse, just because of the last two I want to do. This might also be a pairing story, depending, Mystique and Wolverine, Mystique and Jean, Mystique and Magneto, Mystique and Pyro, Mystique and Rogue toward the beginning, maybe the first one.

The last two are the big ones, though.

The penultimate scene is Mystique after she's given the cure, trying to deal with only one skin. I'm not entirely sure how it will go, but I think she tries different lives, tries different people because she's not comfortable in one skin, so she changes what's on the outside to try to feel like herself again, to try to find power again. She goes through people like she used to go through shapes, discarding one after another.

At one point, I think she sees Rogue from a distance, touching Bobby, holding hands, no longer in gloves and long sleeves and jeans. Rogue, who can touch, but is obviously still not comfortable in her own skin.

The final scene would Mystique with her powers back. She goes to find Rogue, who also has her powers back. I'm not sure what happens, I just love the two women, one who wanted the cure, one who didn't, and the way they deal in their own skins again, after being out of them, so to speak.

Yeah, this would bookend with Mystique/Rogue.

I'm going to have to outline this and think about it more, because I want to write it.
