costume ideas

Okay, say there was going to be a fancy dress party in a few weeks, at a convention maybe, and the theme was the Carnivale di Venezia, the Carnival of Venice, what kind of costume ideas would you have for me, taking two things into consideration, a) that I don't know how to do my own regular make-up and b) this has to not only travel to the convention in a car but then be able to fit into a suitcase to make the flight to Salt Lake City after?

It's been a long time since I came up with a costume for a fancy dress anything. Suggestions?

Also, internet is back on at home, so I hope to do a bunch of posting this weekend of writing things I have finished but could not post.

You could wear a mask? It's an obvious answer, but it IS Venetian tradition. I don't know about the costume. You could google to get an idea and then match a costume to it fairly easily, I think?

Thank you for this suggestion. I did build a costume around a mask, a very simple mask, but the color built the rest of it, and it turned out very nice indeed.
