Fandom: Fast Cars and Hot People
Two things.
One: I'm tempted to request this for Yuletide. Heists for everyone!
Two: I watched the first trailer for the new Fast and the Furious movie the day it dropped and promptly texted a bunch of people to shout. Under the cut is a recap of my reaction because it was A LOT. I cannot wait for this goddamn movie. I have loved this franchise since I saw Fast and the Furious in the theater back in 2001, and I cannot believe how far we've come.
Recap of my reaction while watching this: How dare you use that music to open this, I don't even like Brian and this made me miss him; goddamn Letty just gets hotter every movie; Dom Toretto is a farmer now did not see that AU coming; they've got a bat cave how fun; RAMSEY MOTHERFUCKING YES LET RAMSEY DO HER SHIT; ummm, this setting is looking a lot like Hobbs & Shaw, is this going to be a thing now where one side of the franchise does a thing and then the other side tries to top it; John Cena! I can't believe I've reached a point where I am delighted by John Cena WTF happened to me; LETTY ON A GODDAMN MOTORCYCLE; oh, look at that Fast & Furious callback with him catching her; MIA MOTHERFUCKING YES THANK FUCK SHE'S BACK I WORRIED WE WOULDN'T SEE HER AGAIN WITHOUT BRIAN LET HER KICK SOME ASS; wait surely they're not doing what I think they're doing with Cena's character; "master thief, assassin, high-performance driver" I am DYING this is so great; I love how they're just throwing cars around all the time these days; oh god they are doing what I think they're doing how the fuck am I supposed to believe that John Cena and Dominic Toretto and Mia Toretto are siblings? And we haven't heard jackshit about him in the EIGHT PREVIOUS MOVIES plus bonus material wtf clearly I am going to roll with it but still; yes people throwing each other through walls and leaping out of buildings this series has just gone balls to the wall physics and gravity ain't shit and I am here. for. it; Mama Shaw! Though goddamn, all this did was remind me how furious (heh) I am over this whole Shaw thing. Like, Deckard Shaw killed Han! How the hell am I supposed to accept him as a hero in The Fate of the Furious and Hobbs & Shaw?! Obviously I managed it because Hobbs & Shaw was AMAZING, but COME. ON. He fucking killed Han! All you had to do was not retcon that in Furious 7 and all would be well but NO DECKARD KILLS HAN AND THEN GETS TO BE A HERO AND ACCEPTED BY THE TORETTO FAMILY ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME WHERE IS #JUSTICEFORHAN ahem I might still have strong feelings about this; the gun exchange scene between Jacob and Dom reminded me a lot of the Black Widow trailer and yes I get that showing siblings matching each other blow for blow is a trope it is one I love but Black Widow trailer did it better; LETTY ON A GODDAMN MOTORCYCLE TALKING ABOUT RIDING TO THE DEATH UGH I LOVE HER AND THIS LINE READING SO GODDAMN MUCH; LETTY AND MIA KICKING ASS TOGETHER YES GIVE IT TO ME GIVE IT ALL TO ME; a Pontiac Fiero strapped to a rocket engine I am dying; "not all blood is family" is the tagline and yes true and not all family is blood the entire heart of this series is chosen family and they just keep leaning hard into it and I love it; MAGNET PLANE OH MY GOD; I mean seriously, physics, gravity, nothing exists in the Fast and Furious world and I love the hell out of it; "The Fast Saga" really oh my god that's weirdly pretentious; WAIT WHAT WHAT IS HAPPENING WHAT THIS IS -- ARE THEY -- WHAT IS -- WAIT WAIT WAIT JUSTIN LIN IS BACK DIRECTING THIS ONE OH. MY. GOD. DID HE FIX THIS

I want to be skeptical, look at them using what the fans did to speak out and turning it into a tagline to hype this movie but, uh, they got me. I'm here for it. I'm in.

This trailer hit a lot of the things I've been bothered by in recent films in the franchise and has, at least on the surface, fixed them all, so ... thank you, franchise. I'll be there opening night.
