Fandom: Yuletide

Finally hit the minimum word count on my Yuletide assignment. I think it's going to be a much smaller story than I originally planned, both in word count and in scope, but I like the bit of the world it is focusing on, and it fits the request well, so I am pleased, at least so far. I also talked things out with [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop (one of my bffs, for those of you who are new), and realized that in light of everything else going on the past few months, I should cut myself some slack and lower my Yuletide goal. Normally, I like to do a certain number of treats as well as an assignment of which I am proud, but this year, I am only going to focus on the assignment. If I manage treats too, that'll be a bonus. Hopefully next year, I'll be back to my normal self. I love my assignment, but I am having a hard time feeling any Yuletide cheer (or holiday cheer, for that matter), and as the girl reminded me, that's understandable.

I anticipate maybe another 500 words or so to complete the first draft of this story, and then I will reassess.

I love reading about people who are nearly done with their Yuletide stories and are happy with them. I'm usually a last-minute finisher, myself, but maybe y'all can get me into some better habits. ;-)

I don't think I've ever done a Yuletide story early. It always comes down to the wire, and this year is no different. It's not helped, of course, by the fact that the next three days are really busy. In fact, I shouldn't be replying to comments, I should be leaving.
