Fandom: Yuletide

Finally hit the minimum word count on my Yuletide assignment. I think it's going to be a much smaller story than I originally planned, both in word count and in scope, but I like the bit of the world it is focusing on, and it fits the request well, so I am pleased, at least so far. I also talked things out with [livejournal.com profile] thestalkycop (one of my bffs, for those of you who are new), and realized that in light of everything else going on the past few months, I should cut myself some slack and lower my Yuletide goal. Normally, I like to do a certain number of treats as well as an assignment of which I am proud, but this year, I am only going to focus on the assignment. If I manage treats too, that'll be a bonus. Hopefully next year, I'll be back to my normal self. I love my assignment, but I am having a hard time feeling any Yuletide cheer (or holiday cheer, for that matter), and as the girl reminded me, that's understandable.

I anticipate maybe another 500 words or so to complete the first draft of this story, and then I will reassess.

Go you! I finally finished revisiting canon and have a title/story structure for mine. Now I just need to sit down and writing it (d'oh). Oh, and see if any of my friends have read it to be a beta...

I've never written a treat, and last year I even defaulted on my assignment (it was a bad year). But I'm thinking I may go through and see if I'm moved. How do you search all of the requests?

Congrats on closing in on your first draft!

Since I follow places that discuss Yuletide, it's easy for me to forget that half the collection is (and mine probably will be) 2k or less. A story with a completed structure and relevance to the recipient is beautiful no matter its length. <3

I love reading about people who are nearly done with their Yuletide stories and are happy with them. I'm usually a last-minute finisher, myself, but maybe y'all can get me into some better habits. ;-)

Hooray for the writing going well!

I've never played in the Yuletide sandbox, but I really need to go through the FAQs and figure out deadlines and processes. I'm entertaining hopes of writing a couple of treat stories. *fingers crossed*
