Mean Girls, fandom weekend, writing
I should trust
thestalkycop more often. Or really, because I do, I should listen to her movie recs and watch them immediately. Mean Girls is one of the funniest films I've seen in awhile. It's all the things I like in my comedy--sarcasm, high school hijinks, bitchy women, and a far-too-pretty Lohan, pre-anorexia. Thanks, Sarah, I love it and this is going to be one I buy.
I'm also interested in femslash for it, because can you see Cady swept up in female romance? Or Regina using sex to tie people to her? You know she does.
Sarah, you were right, Regina is definitely high school Shauna, or at least the outside of high school Shauna. She's wonderful, cruel and frightening and fabulous.
To round out the high school girl experience, I've just finished Away Laughing on a Fast Camel and Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers by Louise Rennison, the latest two books in a British series about Georgia Nicolson, her friends, her boyfriends, and all sorts of mishaps. It cracks me up.
Watched the first of the BtVS season three graduation episodes, because Oz. Panicking. Still the cutest, sweetest thing I've seen. Even though the show is over -- far, far over -- and Oz has been gone for awhile, I miss him. The world needs more Oz, and more Seth Green in general.
It's been a fandom weekend. Seth Green is the avatar
thestalkycop and I use for [data embargo], so watching Oz was good. I've already mentioned Mean Girls, and we use Rachel McAdams as the avatar for Shauna. (Anyone reading Queertet Revisited will know who I mean. If you've read The Protector Series, Rachel McAdams would be high school Shauna, obviously not adult Shauna.) J. and I watched D3 The Mighty Ducks, which is, of course, the fandom Queertet Revisited is in. Finally, I have The Butterfly Effect to watch, which has Elden Henson in it, who plays Fulton in the Ducks movies and Fulton is one of the main characters in QR.
And I've rambled way, way too much. I think I need to make some pictures for QR and write some more. I sent Sarah some bits and pieces, but I didn't hear back from her today, so I'm not sure what to write next.
Yay fandom. Yay four day weekend. Yay one more day off.

Saved, with Mandy Moore as Teh Bitch Queen, and some other people, all of whom are very good. I watched it last night - an odd, thought-provoking, funny little movie, with plenty of sarcasm and high school hijinks and bitchy women AND it's set at a born-again Christian school. It's *great*.

Thank you! I shall rent it on my next trip to the store.

Ooh, looky! You have Queertet Revisited icons, and now I do too. Love the angstiness of Charlie/Fulton (Charlton?).
Are you going to be on msn soon?

No Charlton! Carla is so tired of mixed names. Makes her want to cry. Except for Gangster, because that's just funny. :-P
Beautiful icon! Carla thinks we all need more QR icons!
