Fandom: Supernatural
I'm surprised it took me this long to figure out why I am so uninterested in Castiel, but it is this: there is no good reason for him to be a white man and I am tired of stories about white men and their pain and drama or whatever. This is the stupidest realization ever, too, because duh.
Yes, it's that time again. I am trying to watch Supernatural. I am doing a bunch of other stuff, too, writing and cooking and cleaning (maybe this is why I'm such a crap cook, I don't focus enough on it), so maybe I can find a balance between loving the potential of the show and hating the execution.
Maybe.
"It's a Terrible Life"
I like that Sam has a bobble-head Dracula on his desk. I want it!
Why does that guy not have on a yellow company shirt? Everyone else does. This is not subtle at all.
I busted someone surfing porn during work hours at one of my old jobs. Awkward.
Sam's flashbacks are like Supernatural vids minus the music.
I hate elevator time. Even when I'm with my friends.
I wish they did more with Sam and his drawing. I like when characters can draw and then it is used frequently in the show.
Holy shit that's a creepy place to work. And also, he's not given up yet? I would have.
(Offices after hours are spooky as hell. I spent some late nights this summer, and though our building is beautiful, CREEPY. The parking garage I expected, but the empty shadowy halls and the mirrored elevator - CREEPY.)
Why do companies make IT guys wear matching polos anyway?
Holy hell, Dean's pretty. His eyes. His mouth. Unf.
Going to HR is kinda like going to meet the senior partners, huh? It changes you.
Dean's suspenders! OMG. DORK. <3
Dean changed his shirt in his office. I suddenly want to write office porn. Also, disturbingly, his office is decorated quite like I'd decorate mine.
They're talking about ghosts, but Sam's dreams being psychic would be nuts? HEE.
Oooh, mysterious rooms.
They're so excited to be checking out the ghosts. It is ADORABLE.
Kicking down doors for the WIN. UNF. And swinging iron objects through ghosts. Also UNF. Hot brothers are hot.
Dean's apartment is gorgeous, except for that kitchen table. The thought of him off carbs makes me giggle a lot.
Of course it's the Ghostfacers website which makes Dean so impressed. I am snorting with laughter. It hurts a little.
He was the company and his blood pumped through the building? Yeah, that's not a creepy way to talk about him or anything, COMPANY.
Economy talk! Appropriate.
Well DUH, of course 1444 was the old man's office.
Hee. I love how the Ghostfacers hate the Winchesters but still use their shotgun theory.
I love seeing Sam and Dean confused about how to do stuff -- get guns, dig up bodies, etc.
Jesus, Dean and his button downs are hot.
And hee. They didn't even think about the security guard. Of course not.
Elevators are CREEPY. CREEPY CREEPY CREEPY. Also, claustrophobic.
AND THAT IS PART OF WHY!
Sometimes, after all the horrible elevator scenes I've watched, I'm surprised I ever get into them.
I love that you can actually see the moment when they get cocky and then the old man starts kicking their ass.
PRETTY. I love the flames when they burn the ghosts.
Dean and his Right? Right? makes me grin. Also, Dean and Sam enjoying the ghost hunting and Sam wanting to keep doing it.
So Dean in this episode is pretty much exactly like one of the stories I'm writing. You don't want to go hunting ghosts without health insurance indeed!
There's almost an interesting commentary about workers in cubicles versus workers who have their own (gorgeous) offices. I'm not sure it makes it, though, and what it does say, I'm not sure about.
Yeah, you tell that phone what's what, Sam.
Dean does look tired and a little twitchy. Aww, Dean's giving notice too. <3
Oh, shocker, another angel in a white male body. SHOCKING I FUCKING TELL YOU.
Ass clowns in monkey suits. <3
"Angel or not, I will stab you in the face." I love you for saying what I'm thinking, Dean.
Hahahahahahahahaha. While driving a classic car and fornicating with women. This is a gift! Hahahahahahahaha. Okay, angel, I will give you that ONE LINE. Also the line about Dean getting to save people.
On the whole, an enjoyable episode.
I think I've probably heard too much about this episode to come at it clean.
"The Monster at the End of this Book"
Of course the comic book employee can't be a woman of color because they don't read comics!
<3 LARPing.
God, that's a crappy cover - I thought these were supposed to be comic books. Did the Comcast blurb lie to me?
"I'm full-frontal in here, dude."
Of course there are FANS.
"As in Sam/Dean. Together." Hahahahahahaha.
On the one hand, this is totally believable. On the other hand, if the show is being so openly aware of fans and fan issues and what-not, THEN WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T THEY ADDRESSED AND FIXED THE RACIST AND SEXIST AND ABLIST ISSUES?
GODDAMN FUCKING ASSHOLES.
Dr. Sexy MD! That ties in to an episode this season, I've heard.
And of course the author is a white man. Though I do like the publisher being a woman. Even though she is a failed publisher.
Fan tattoos!
I'm now not sure what I would do if people claiming to be my characters showed up at my door. Huh.
A Misery thing. HEE.
Why didn't he put the last names in the books? I'm confused by that.
There's only one explanation: obviously I'm a god. *headdesk* Dean, hit him. PLEASE.
(Though, okay, the idea of my characters showing up is a little terrifying. TERRIFYING. I am mean to my characters.)
Lilith is coming for Sam. To kill him? No, to fuck him. Obviously.
Throes of fiery demonic passion? Ha.
OMG the Impala is so pretty. So very, very pretty.
I am suddenly craving diner food and my siblings and laughter.
"It frustrates me when you say such reckless things." Oh, Dean, I love you so much.
And I do not blame him one bit for wanting to run and not fight. Protect the siblings!
OH SHIT. Dean!
Holy crap, her star earrings are AWESOME. GIANT, but AWESOME.
IMPALA! My heart hurts. It's such an invasion, that broken glass and someone breaking into the car.
Oh, man, I was enjoying the show without Castiel.
Of course the prophet of god is a white man.
The Winchester gospel? I'm not sure I can keep watching this show for more reasons than just my problems with their treatment of the -isms.
New Lilith is gorgeous. Of course, she's also an evil woman. Thanks for that, Supernatural. As usual.
Much, much less enjoyable.
"Jump the Shark"
I really, really miss John Winchester. <3
OMG, landscape, so beautiful. So, so beautiful.
OF COURSE the potential sibling is a white boy. OF COURSE.
I love being all competent with the holy water and the silver, and being all protective of his dad. I love you Dean.
Why is there no ice in their water?
UNF. Gun under the table. UNF UNF UNF UNF UNF UNF.
Dean's anger and jealousy is fantastic.
Hee. Bobby the baby-sitter. And Sam willing to risk the younger brother as bait and Dean being highly disturbed at that idea. The big brother is strong in Dean. <3
Sam is not so great at teaching people.
I love the colors of this show, or rather, the lack of colors, the faded colors and the grays and blacks. Gorgeous.
And now Sam is jealous of Adam, too! This is fabulous.
I am enjoying this episode more than I expected.
Hee. Of course we can't have another Winchester brother kicking around. (Or a Winchester sister, god forbid.) I love that smirk on Adam's face right before he says "I know."
As usual, a woman who was both a victim and a villain. UNSURPRISING.
(I need a new tv. I am having a hard time seeing anything.)
As tired as I am of having the women being the villains, holy cow, I love these ghoul siblings A LOT.
Uh, hello, Dean, DUMBASS. If it means headshot, you need to SHOOT BOTH GHOULS IN THE HEAD. Not just one. You are getting sloppier with old age, baby.
I really love Dean realizing that Sam is John all over again.
Mostly enjoyable, if frustrating at moments.
I think that might be all the Supernatural I can handle in a row.
On the other hand, my classic rock music station is doing a Blue Oyster Cult marathon and just started playing "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" which is a song I ADORE. Long before Supernatural used it, too.
