[fandom] Writercon 2009

I tried to buy my Writercon 2009 ticket to add to my list of things I accomplished today (so far, it's a short list), but the payment won't go through and I'm too foggy-headed to troubleshoot it. Anyone know if their paypal system is messed up right now? I'll try again tomorrow (or will at least be able to ask for help tomorrow, I hope). (Also, I can't decide what to put on my badge. I'd like it to read like this:

Carla
escritoireazul

but I don't know if that's possible. Maybe I'll make my own LJ sticker with my default icon, a la what they do at Wiscon.)

I'll be driving from Kansas City; it looks like it's less than seven hours, which actually makes it the shortest road trip of the summer. Most of August is open right now, and I don't know what I'll be doing during it, but the idea of my car and my music and the open road is intoxicating.

I'm rooming with [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel. It's a little weird to be attending a convention that isn't Wiscon, and to attend one without [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe, [livejournal.com profile] revena, [livejournal.com profile] chr0me_kitten, [livejournal.com profile] cabell, etc. I already know how to be comfortable in person with them, and that's not something I am good at being.

Still, I keep pushing myself to try new things, and this is something I've really been looking forward to doing. [livejournal.com profile] nikitangel started talking it up in 2006, and though I couldn't attend that year, since I didn't learn about it until May, I'm glad to go this year.

Who else is going? We should hang out.

(My computer wants to restart. I'm going to bed.)

I'm gonna be there, too: _beetle_

Making the hotel reservations with my next paycheck. I'm nervous as a box of cats, but excited, too. About the Con, not making reservations. . . .

And it's that kinda spaziness that anyone meeting me in person will recognize me by.
