[fandom] How to Look Good Naked

So back in the day I used to love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, mostly because I adored the hosts. Now Carson wasn't my favorite, but he was pretty awesome. Since I have this lovely On Demand, I've watched a couple episodes of How to Look Good Naked and, you guys? It is kind of awesome. I was leery going into it, and I'd still like to see some larger women going through the loving their bodies process (and also some GBLT), but really, it's a lovely show, and I hope it is doing some good. Carson is pretty amazing, too.

Fun flair, too. I am watching one about a marine wife, and Carson is riding in a freaking tank down their street.

One of my favorite parts is when he has the main woman compare herself to other women, choosing whether a specific thing on them is larger or smaller than on her. Consistently the women think they are huge compared to the others, when they aren't. It's all about perception, people.

Now a couple episodes of That 70s Show and then to bed.

I like that show, it's good to see something that's about helping women love themselves as they are and not about ridiculous plastic sugery.

I really love that show. I was really really wary when I first heard about it, because I did not believe that any man could really make a woman feel good about her body and understand the issues without it becoming a complimenting game, but I watched a few eps during its first season and really liked it. Occasionally I think he misses the boat (usually if the women have really terrific figures, societal-expectations-wise) but often it's fantastic.

It's a wonderful, healthy counterweight to all those horrid shows about losing weight and having a complete makeover down, complete with plastic surgery to "correct" one's figure flaws.
