[fandom] media killed my inner voice

Well, killed is a strong word. Influenced, maybe. Do you ever hear specific phrases in your head just as they appear in media? Let me give some examples.

I often say the following, and hear it internally as from the source material:

1) "clever girl" from Jurassic Park (about the velociraptor)
2) "beautiful" from Pitch Black (Riddick, about the monsters)
3) "New York City" from the Pace salsa commercials

You?

(This has made me want to start talking about private jokes, but that will keep me here all night. I will say this one, just for sister K: I like bacon.)

1 and 3 definitely. I was just thinking about 3 the other day!

I imagine you were, being there in the city and all. I'm glad you made it back to Kentucky.

Ah, my sister and I do this all the time. We had a penchant for quoting movies when we were little, and it's stuck. The big ones lately have been:

1. "I can just imagine." (John Adams, in 1776 - notably because he says "uh"magine rather than "i"magine.)
2. "You have NO idea." (Trekkie Monster - Avenue Q)
3. "That'll do, pig." (Babe)

There are plenty of others, but I can't place them right now...

Oh, those are neat, especially #2. My siblings and I quote things at each other, movies and books and comics and private jokes. We're likely very annoying to be around sometimes, but it's quite fun from the inside.

I've got a lot of those:
"Hey, a [noun]!" like Tom Servo's "Hey, a chainsaw!" from MST3K: The Movie
"Once again, things that could have been brought to my attention yesterday!"--Adam Sandler, from The Wedding Singer (and I think I only saw it one time)
The word "special" as SNL's Church Lady more often than not
"It's still good!"--Homer Simpson from the episode with the flying pig where Lisa becomes a vegetarian
"Excellent!"--Mr. Burns from pretty much every Simpsons ever or Megatron from Transformers
"Bacon!"--commercial for dog treats I don't remember anything else about

Awesome list!

When I moved from NYC to Idaho and was introduced to the entire department at my new job, they said I'd moved from New York City, and the entire room, apparently without planning ahead, shouted, "NEW YORK CITY?!" It was pretty damn funny.

Ha! That's a great story, and very funny.

"That's Hot" most of the time in jest or to be amused but said like Paris Hilton.

"Mmmm. Chocolate." This is always said like Homer Simpson.

I am sure there are more but that is all I remember right now.

I love the chocolate one. The Simpsons invades my speech all the time.
