[fandom] this is the anthem, throw all your hands up - Yuletide Joy
Oh, Yuletide.
More than 2400 stories this year. That's a lot of fic. That's a lot of people writing stories to make other people happy. I think I'm finally in a holiday mood.
(Vin Diesel wrestling scene. That's a different type of mood. Humina.)
Anyway, because of finals, and a personal injury, and weather woe, I haven't been very excited about the holidays. It doesn't feel like the end of 2008, nor time to do the rituals I do at this time of year. I didn't feel joy, or the excitement of giving people things (even though I have some awesome gifts for people).
Yuletide, these past couple days, has changed that. I feel full of joy and excitement, and the rush of creativity and writing joy. I wrote five stories for Yuletide this year, three over 1000 words and two shorter ones. (If you guess which they are, I will give you a prize. Prize negotiable.)
(The soundtrack to this movie is kind of incredible.)
I've loved watching my flist talk about what they liked and didn't like about Yuletide. I've loved watching the story numbers go higher. I've loved looking at the prompts, the ones which inspired me to write and the ones which didn't. Mostly I've loved creating things. It's been a complete break from school, and it helped me in ways I didn't realize I needed.
(Man, I am going to have to write some fic for this movie. Littlest elf? Rodriguez? The kids being awesome? I wish I'd brought my copy with me, but all I brought was Rogue and The Ruins. I'm not actually sure who I wanted to show them to, but I brought them.)
