[fandom] Transformers

"What'd they get you for?"
"I bought a car, turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?"

You guys. YOU GUYS! I may have made flaily hands and cheered the first time we see Optimus Prime.

I also may have nearly cried when the army guy made it back to his wife and baby.

Also I cheered when the girl steals the tow truck and takes Bumblebee for a shooting spree. And when she told the soldier she wasn't leaving without Bumblebee. And again when Bumblebee said he wanted to stay with the boy.

I'm so glad those soldiers survived. I was rooting for them throughout the movie.

Finally, it's Jazz who dies, right? So the stereotypically ethnic speaking robot dies. Really. I kind of have a problem with that.

On the whole, I love this movie, and intend to buy it. The soundtrack, too; at least based on what I've heard, it's awesome.

Aaron loves that movie. (It's cars and car crashes. Two of the great loves of his life.)

I love that movie. A group of about 10 of us saw it on opening night, and the atmosphere in the theater was amazing. Every single person in the theater showed the same emotions at the same time. It was like we were one huge team. Hadn't experienced anything like that since LOTR: Fellowship.

Now, to get you into the comics and cartoon side of fandom. I may have to spam you with clips of G1!Starscream, because he is fucking fabulous. *eg*

And yeah, it's Jazz who dies. Which did annoy a lot of people, but Jazz was one of the few characters to actually survive the original '80s movie, so I like to think that it balances somewhat. (Plus, if you go by the toys, you can totally claim that Jazz survives. And toys are pretty much canon in this fandom. :D )

My rule for the movie is to just ignore all the insulting Michael Bay shit (which is much lower than in most Bay movies), and pay attention to all the good stuff that other people brought into it. :D

Hahahaha, "Transformers" made me so angry when I went to see it in the theaters. My Bile-Spewing, Hate-Filled Review (http://schizoauthoress.livejournal.com/215641.html).

Which is not to say that I hated the movie entirely. There were good bits. But the Decepticons filled me with far more glee that the Autobots. I guess I'm just a villain girl. (Totally hear you on the flaily hands for Optimus, though!!)
