[meme] 1980s

From [livejournal.com profile] das_hydra

1. How old were you in 1980?
I wasn't born until 1981. I feel young. Which is nice, because around the law school, I feel old.

2. How old were you in 1989?
Eight.

3. Were you a Toys 'R' Us kid?
Nope. I don't even think I went to a Toys 'R' Us until I was an adult. There wasn't one nearby, and my toys came from elsewhere.

4. Did you watch Transformers?
Some. I preferred books to t.v.

5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen?
I don't think so. Maybe.

6. Did you own a Lite Brite?
Nope. This was one of the few toys I really wanted and didn't get. I probably would have blown it up, though.

7. Who is your favorite Golden Girl?
None of them. I liked the ensemble cast and didn't individually pick one.

8. When someone says "Who you gonna call?" you think?
Ghostbusters! "If there's something strange, in your neighborhood"

9. What was your favorite toy?
Books. Legos. My horse and dog. Whatever.

10. Did you have a Pogo Ball?
No, but I played on my friends' sometimes. I didn't really want one, and it's probably a good thing. I'm lucky I didn't break my neck.

11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block?
No. I hated them when everyone around me loved them.

12. What New Kid did you have a crush on?
See above RE hated.

13. Did you play M.A.S.H?
All the time. I still play it occassionally, it's hilarious.

14. Did you watch The Care Bears?
Yup. I have a ton of bears still, too.

15. Did you have jelly bracelets?
No. I didn't like jewelry much then, either.

18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet?
However, jewelry which caused pain I could get behind, so yes.

19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
The Breakfast Club, though I also liked Sixteen Candles.

20. Did you have a crazy hair style?
Long and straight. My hair was even more of a bitch to deal with back then. At least now it can go from curly back to straight (when Murphy takes care of it), back then it wouldn't do anything but straight.

21. What was your first bike?
I don't remember.

22. Name one thing you still own from your childhood?
Tons of books, and lots more.

23. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid?
Many of them.

25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake?
Rainbow Brite.

26. Did you watch Miami Vice?
Not a big fan of the t.v.

28. Did you own a Trapper Keeper?
Yeah, but they weren't that great.

29. Atari or Nintendo?
Nintendo!

30. Did you play Pac-Man?
Oh, yeah.

31. Which was better: Jem and The Holograms or Barbie and The Rockers?
Jem. She was so much cooler.

32. He-Man or She-Ra?
She-Ra. I was all about the girl power.

33. What movie scared you the most?
The Howling or this old mummy movie. I watched both on the road with my dad when he was a truck driver (The Howling was the first horror movie I ever watched). I liked the terror from The Howling, which made me expect to see werewolves on top of all the eighteen wheelers when we went out to the parking lot after. The mummy movie, though, scared the shit out of me -- there was this bathroom scene, and I think the mummy made people rot away if it touched them, and forever since I have this fear of something coming up outside the shower curtain. What's funny is that the mummy didn't actually touch the woman in the shower, I don't think. (I haven't watched the movie since. I'm not even sure which mummy movie it was. I should figure that out, I think.)

34. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson?
Not really.

35. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "flux capacitor"?
Time travel! Back to the Future! Calvin!

36. What other colors did Pepsi come in?
I have no idea. I wasn't allowed soda much back then. (Probably for the best.)

37. Roger Rabbit or Howard The Duck?
I liked Roger Rabbit more, though I remember being vaguely amused by Howard the Duck.

38. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with the 'LASER' background?
No. I always wanted blue.

39. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is?
Go ninja, go ninja, go! Even if it isn't TMNT, that's what I think of when I see Ninja Rap. I love that stupid song.

40. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER?
I don't know.

41. Can you name the family members from the National Lampoon's Vacation movies?
The Griswolds, but I don't know names. I hate these movies.

42. Did you have pump sneakers?
No. I thought they were stupid.

43. Did you own HYPER COLOR shirts?
No, I don't think. I wasn't into clothes much then either.

44. Did you watch Smurfs?
Yes. I preferred listening to my records of them, though.
