[livejournal] anniversary and icons
Aww, I missed my anniversary. Three years ago yesterday I started this journal for all my fandom activity. Though sometimes I feel a little split, I'm really glad I did it, because I've had a ton of fun here, and you guys are extremely awesome.
Since then I've posted 692 posts and 2387 comments.
Recently, Nikita bought me more paid time and more icons, and as I've been looking at which ones I want to upload, I've spent a lot of time looking through my various icon folders. It made me wonder how you organize your icons. I do them by fandom, mostly, though there are specific actors who get their own folders (Michelle Rodriguez, Eliza Dushku, and Vin Diesel) which are then broken down by fandom.
I really like icons.

Wow, your icons are much more organized than mine. Mine are all in a big folder called ICONS, which has three subfolders: POPICONS (for Popularverse icons, since they go onto a different file on my server), ANIMATED, and NEW (as in icons I'm currently working on.) I do separate them by subject in the file name, though; they're things like eliza.masochist (for this one):
Oh, and happy anniversary!

I may have more folder organization than you do, but you have much more information in the file names. I pretty much just save them however the maker named them, but add "by [maker]" so I can credit when I upload.
The Icon folder is actually a part of my Manipulated Pictures folder, which includes, well, any manipulated pictures I've done or am working on, from ads for work to fanart, etc. In the MP folder, I have an In Progress folder which has an obvious use. Once icons are completed, I save them into the Icon folder under [fandom].
I love organization. Love it.

My other anniversary is coming up, too, and it's a shocking number. I'll have been on LJ for six years at that point; up until I started that blog, I'd never kept a journal more than a handful of days before.

I must admit, at this time all of my icons are of the Supernatural / Jared / Jensen variety. I have them all in one folder. And then I have sub-folders set up for the specific seasons, a few specific episodes I went icon crazy for, the actors, etc. Plus, one for "rare" icons, meaning you rarely see anyone making icons of those pics.
I don't make my own graphics, so I always save icons under the username of the artist, because I'm completely ocd when it comes to giving credit when I use them.
And no matter how much icon space I have in my journal, it never seems like enough. Isn't that the way it goes? ♥

Icons are just so lovely and fun to use.
