I'm finally watching V for Vendetta (I've only had it from Netflix for almost two months now), and I'm glad I finally did. I really like it, and, unsurprisingly, it has reminded me of my belief that sometimes the only way to change things is through a revolution.

(Violence is a dangerous, heady, addictive thing.)

I hate to resort to cliches, but the comic really is better. Certainly more nuanced in all its aspects, from plot to character development to political philosophy. And as far as I'm concerned, more realistic :)

I do intend to read the comic, too. (Actually, it's been on my To Read list for years now, but I've bumped it much closer to the top.) I'm not too worried about realistic, but I would like to see the political philosophy developed farther, so I'm glad to know I can look forward to that in the comic.

I love the film though the book is a bit better though I think the film does an incredibly fine job.

I'll read the book, too, but the film was just awesome. (I'm easy to please, revolutions and fireworks are two of my favorite things.)

Don't get me wrong, the film has a special place in my heart though many purists would disagree but then again, I have a serious thing for Hugo Weaving. I adore him as an actor and love a lot of his stuff.

I'm one of the few who liked the film much, much better than the graphic novel. The film was less crackalicious, I liked better how it turned out in the end, and I think overall the film was just better suited to what's going on in the world today (just like the GN was suited to the early 80s).

But then again, I hate Vertigo's publications deeply, so maybe it's not surprising I didn't like the GN. :)

I'm sure I'll like the graphic novel, too, but I really like the way the film was updated to suit what's going on in the world today. That was one of the parts I liked most, so I kind of wish I'd read the story first, because now I worry I won't like it as much as I could have if I would have gone into it clean.

(I usually find it easier to like a movie after I've loved a book than to like a book if I love the movie.)
