[fic recs] Yuletide three
Fandoms: Archie, Bend It Like Beckham, the Bible, Bones, Bram Stoker - Dracula, Braveheart, The Breakfast Club, Bridget Jones Diary (movie), and CS Lewis - Chronicles of Narnia.
Archie
"That Old Familiar Fable? Not Quite", a cute, sweet story about Betty and Veronica forcing Archie's hand, with a fantastic sarcastic narrator who turns the tone of the comics on edge at moments throughout the story.
Bend It Like Beckham
"California Dreaming", a sweet, wonderful, funny story about falling in love with your best friend and admitting to yourself that yes, you do like girls, and the heartache which comes when your best friend has a boyfriend. It's wonderful, a little sad, and it really touched me. I love it.
Bible
"In the Shadow of Her Wings", an enchanting story which made me hold my breath throughout it, because the language is just absolutely beautiful, the rhythm of the story, the flow. I was leery about Bible fic, I'm so cynical about religion, but this was amazing, and I'm so glad I read it.
Bones
"The Art of Off-Topic", a fun story about the awkwardness of interpersonal relationships, with great character voices.
"Punch Drunk Love", a sweet, funny, touching story about different office Christmas parties over the years. The Hodgins voice is perfect, and Angela is marvelous here.
Bram Stoker - Dracula
"Sympathy of Wolves", a dark story of the brides of Dracula, told by the first among them. It's really lovely, and the tone is delicious.
"Non Monis Moriar", a dark, beautiful story of Mina, and her fears, and the secrets which weigh so heavy.
Braveheart
"Phantasms", a beautiful, haunting story of love, and mystery, and magic.
The Breakfast Club
"Optimist", a sweet, slightly painful, definitely breathtaking story about what happens after the movie. The details are amazing, and the characters perfect.
Bridget Jones Diary (movie)
"Cucumbers and Country Casuals", a funny, sharp little story told in the exact style of the book. No, really, it's perfect, the characters' voices are amazing and spot-on, and I loved it.
C.S. Lewis - Chronicles of Narnia
"Kingdoms Come", a heartbreaking, sweet, dream-like story about life and death, fear and love.
"Lives by Breaking", an even more heartbreaking story of how Narnia hurts those who love it most.
