I agree with pretty much everything you said, here! I'm head over heels for this show, but am very aware and cringing at some of the missed opportunities and racism.

I'm also really frustrated that Jug isn't asexual (yet?) in this version. I know it's not necessarily canon throughout all the comics, but seriously, what a missed opportunity if they don't dive into that. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have him figure it out either this season or next season at the latest. It makes absolutely no sense to me that they wouldn't go there, even from a network executive standpoint -- it's the CW, the showrunner and at least one of the writers is queer, and it's a storyline that hasn't been told on television in any sort of depth yet (that I know of, at least). It feels like a lot of shows usually pat themselves on the back when they are the ~first to cover a topic that people are clamoring for -- and it's sitting RIGHT THERE for them!! So yeah... I have a lot of feelings about this. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, but I think at most I'm (very) cautiously optimistic.
Besides the issues it has, though, this show is catering to all of my interests, and I'm completely here for it. It's so hard to wait an entire week between episodes!
