Though I frequently find the final season ridiculous (though I enjoyed it, too, for all that it was really a switch from the reason of the show), the last few moments of the series ending never fails to rip out my heart. This is the second story I've written trying to explore that, and this one captures at least some of the shock and horror and disconnect and heartbreak when you combine the episode with Dan's heart attack and the finale.
