::shrieks::

OMG!! Favorite birthday present, hands down. YOU, lady, are the awesomest to awesome. I can't believe you pulled this off.  Your brain is slightly terrifying.

Okay, the awesome starts with the summary. Except now there is more than one.  Fantastic!

Ana-Lucia bit.  Love that she calls the other Tailies "her others."  And for some reason I just loved this line:

About a month later, this guy in his twenties, short, spiky red hair, kept a guitar close at hand and a stake in his belt, came to explain it to her.

Something about it says so much more than what's there.  And hee!  She would totally call the weirdness of old men caring for young female Slayers.  And this:

She was going to save the world her own way.

Ana-Lucia, all over.

and in her dreams, she can hear all the children she lost, reduced to babies, reduced to one slight cry and a flutter in the belly.

Oh, God.  That's just ... man.  My poor girl.  How gut-wrenching was it to hear Aaron crying in camp?  Or worse, cooing or laughing?

Eden.  So Eden, from the very first line:  So there are vampires in paradise. Who freaking cares?

Eden really doesn’t care if she never finishes and gets married tomorrow, except that Anne Marie worries about her sister, and when Anne Marie’s upset, Eden fixes it.

Oh, that's her.

There are plenty of thoughts she never actually voices

Right there - you capture her perfectly right there.  So much going on underneath that we never get to see or hear, and so few people taking the time to look or listen.

"I don’t need to be a hero. ... I don’t need that. I don’t want that.”

Did she ever?  Has she resigned herself to life as a sidekick and convinced herself that it's what she wants?  Will she live in Anne-Marie's shadow the rest of her life?

Letty.  I love that each first line contains the character so succintly.

Letty didn’t dispute the hot, though she meant it in ways those little girls wouldn’t understand, but she wasn’t gonna act like Faith was the fucking second coming.

Love it.  Love.  It.

She was starving, but wasn’t going to give Faith anything to use as a way to bond.

Of course she wasn't.  Of course she doesn't want to give anyone a way to bond.  She sees her life as an extension of Dom's.  How much would Slayerdom mess with her head?  A life of her own?  Would he finally appreciate her, incorporate her the way she does him?

Faith stretched both arms overhead, showing off all the muscles, the curves, the tattoos.

That's my Faith!

D.J.!  Whoa, baby!  Man, I haven't thought about that phrase in awhile.

Dad would have a mop in one hand and a bottle of bleach in the other.

That takes me back to the episode where she and Stephanie punched a hole in Danny's bedroom wall, and distracted him by making up a song about him.  "He's our Dad/he's got a really clean room/and he keeps it that way/with a mop and a broom."

Claudia!  Stale!  "A word me and my friends made up"!  Classic!  800-CAN-SAVE.  Hee.

She’d be terrifying as one, though. Must make sure it never happens.

Oh Lord, the world could not take it.

One set is a little crossbow for one ear and a bolt for the other. The other is a tiny little vampire – I think he looks like Dracula – on one side and a stake on the other.

Ack!  The earrings!  The outfits!  Oh, I've been reading recaps of BSC books lately and I'd forgotten just how absurd they could be.  You hit that one right on the head.

At twelve, she started her own business, and we lasted for a few years. It felt like much longer, maybe a decade or two.

BEST LINE.

So, yeah.  This was an unbelievable present.  I can't believe there's a whole other half!  I can't imagine how strange it must have been to switch not just voices but universes with each part.  You totally pulled it off, and I thank you BIG TIME.  Awesome.
