[fandom] BSC in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

"Fans grow up, stay loyal to the Baby-sitters Club".

It's a fun article, and the best part about reading the paper today.

One of my favorite lines: "Whether you're bossy like Kristy, shy like Mary Anne or diabetic like Stacey -- and everyone thought they were diabetic after reading about Stacey -- there's a match for each reader."

So true. Everyone did think they were diabetic because of Stacey.

I also like: [Matt] Zakozek even refers to character Mallory Pike's experience with infectious mononucleosis when discussing his own illness in his sophomore year. "She made it sound like some mysterious 19th-century disease," he said. It turned out not to be so romantic.

One Lurlene McDaniel book, and I was DONE. Some girl's sister had leukemia (which narrows the book down to, oh... everything she ever wrote). I only remember one scene - the sister had a nosebleed in the middle of the night and she was covered with blood. Every nosebleed I ever got after that, I was convinced I was dying.

Diabetes AND leukemia... I was in bad shape.
